  1. 1. Resonances in three-body systems

    Author : Muhammad Umair; Svante Jonsell; Michael Odelius; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; teoretisk fysik; Theoretical Physics;

    Abstract : Three particles interacting via Coulomb forces represents a fundamental problem in quantum mechanics whose approximate solution provides some insight into the more complex analysis associated with few-body problems. We have investigated resonance states composed of three particles interacting via Coulombic and more general potentials in non-relativistic quantum mechanics, using the complex scaling method. 3. 3. Three-body Universality Controlled by a Feshbach Resonance

    Author : Kajsa-My Tempest; Svante Jonsell; Doerte Blume; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Efimov states; few-body systems; ultracold atoms; van der Waals interaction; Feshbach resonances; universality; computational studies; Theoretical Physics; teoretisk fysik;

    Abstract : The quantum Efimov effect manifests itself in the limit of resonant two-body interactions, where the scattering length diverges. In this scenario, an infinite number of shallow bound trimer states are formed with binding energies that obey a discrete geometric scaling law. READ MORE

  4. 4. Solving the quantum scattering problem for systems of two and three charged particles

    Author : Mikhail Volkov; Nils Elander; William McCurdy; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Scattering theory; three body scattering; Atomic and molecular physics; Atom- och molekylfysik; Mathematical physics; Matematisk fysik; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : A rigorous formalism for solving the Coulomb scattering problem is presented in this thesis. The approach is based on splitting the interaction potential into a finite-range part and a long-range tail part. In this representation the scattering problem can be reformulated to one which is suitable for applying exterior complex scaling. READ MORE

  5. 5. Three-body systems in the no-core shell model

    Author : DANIEL SÄÄF; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; core swelling; halo nuclei; no-core shell model; nuclear physics; clusterization;

    Abstract : In this thesis we present the ab initio no-core shell model (NCSM) and we use that framework to study 6He and 6Li computed with a realistic nucleon- nucleon interaction. In particular, we present results for the point-proton radius and the ground-state energy. READ MORE
