  1. 1. On Total Disc Replacement

    Author : Svante Berg; Hans Tropp; Tycho Tullberg; Claes Olerud; Gunnar B.J. Andersson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Low back pain consumes a large part of the community’s resources dedicated to health care and sick leave. Back disorders also negatively affect the individual leading to pain suffering, decreased quality-of-life and disability. READ MORE

  2. 2. Tycho-Gaia and beyond: Combining data for precision astrometry

    Author : Daniel Michalik; Astronomi - Genomgår omorganisation; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; proper motions; parallaxes; positions; map of the Milky Way; joint solution; Gaia; detection of exo-planets; astrometry; catalogue combination; Tycho-Gaia Astrometric Solution; Hundred Thousand Proper Motion project; Fysicumarkivet A:2015:Michalik;

    Abstract : Astrometry aims at producing a three-dimensional map of positions and motions of stars and other celestial bodies in a consistent coordinate system covering the whole sky. This is best done from space, which provides a way of scanning the entire sky by a single instrument in a thermally stable environment. READ MORE

  3. 3. Muses and Patrons : Cultures of Natural Philosophy in Seventeenth Century Scandinavia

    Author : Jakob Danneskiold-Samsøe; Avdelningen för idé- och lärdomshistoria; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; history of learning; Scandinavia; History of Science; Denmark; Sweden; natural philosophy; history of culture; Renaissance; 17th century; history of ideas; patronage; Vetenskapshistoria;

    Abstract : This study analyses the development of natural philosophy in Scandinavia in the 16th and 17th century. Rather than dealing with individual natural philosophers and ideas, it evolves around groups of natural philsophers - the Bartholin family and the former assistants of Tycho Brahe in Denmark, the Rudbeck family in Sweden. 4. 4. The micrometeorite flux to Earth through the Phanerozoic Eon : Reconstructed using sediment-dispersed extraterrestrial spinels

    Author : Ellinor Martin; Kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; chromite; chrome spinel; micrometeorites; Phanerozoic; asteroid breakup; ordinary chondrites; 3He anomalies; lunar impacts; ice age; impact craters; zircons;

    Abstract : The purpose of this thesis is to add an astronomical component to the history and evolution of Earth by reconstructing the micrometeorite flux to Earth at different time intervals during the Phanerozoic Eon, using sediment-dispersed extraterrestrial spinel group minerals as a proxy. Chromite and chrome spinel are common refractory members of the spinel group, occurring in both extraterrestrial and terrestrial rocks. READ MORE

  5. 5. Studies of Double and Multiple Stars Using Space Astrometry

    Author : Carl Fredrik Quist; Astronomi - Genomgår omorganisation; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cosmic chemistry; space research; brown dwarfs; Binaries; astrometric binaries; astrometry; Hipparcos; GAIA; Astronomy; data analysis; Astronomi; rymdvetenskap; kosmisk kemi; Fysicumarkivet A:2000:Quist;

    Abstract : This thesis introduces and summarizes four papers dealing with the study of double and multiple stars using space astrometry. The introduction gives a brief review of the role of binary observations in various fields of astronomy --- star formation, stellar masses and the mass-luminosity relation, initial mass function, detection of sub-stellar mass companions.
