  1. 1. Type 2 myocardial infarction : Aspects of diagnosis, prognosis and treatment

    Author : Anton Gard; Bertil Lindahl; Tomasz Baron; Hans Mickley; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Myocardial infarction; type 2 myocardial infarction; myocardial injury; Cardiology; Kardiologi;

    Abstract : Unlike the coronary thromboembolic type 1 myocardial infarction (MI), a type 2 MI occurs secondary to other conditions causing an imbalance in myocardial oxygen supply and demand. Type 2 MI is associated with high mortality and evidence based treatment is lacking. READ MORE

  2. 2. Type D Personality : Psychometric Properties of the DS14 and Associations with Ill Health and Coronary Heart Disease in General and Clinical Populations

    Author : Emelie Condén; Cecilia Åslund; Jerzy Leppert; Lisa Ekselius; Aleksander Perski; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; adolescence; ill health; mortality; myocardial infarction; sleep; stability; Type D personality; Psychiatry; Psykiatri;

    Abstract : Type D personality, or distressed personality, refers to the joint tendency to experience negative emotions and to inhibit self-expression in social interactions. The overall aims of this thesis were to examine the impact of Type D personality on adolescents’ self-perceived health, to examine the factorial and temporal stability of the Type D personality construct DS14, and to clarify whether type D personality is an independent risk factor for recurrent myocardial infarction and all-cause mortality among patients with myocardial infarction. 3. 3. Diabetes complications, risk factors, and glycaemic indices in persons with type 1 diabetes

    Author : Sara Hallström; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Type 1 diabetes; Type 2 diabetes; Hyperglycaemia; Diabetes complications; Renal insufficiency; Amputation; Atrial fibrillation; Mortality; Myocardial infarction; Heart failure; Stroke; Continuous glucose monitoring;

    Abstract : Background: Persons with type 1 diabetes are at higher risk of cardiovascular disease and mortality. An important risk factor for diabetes complications is hyperglycaemia. Hyperglycaemia has traditionally been measured using HbA1c, but glycaemic targets are also provided for continuous glucose monitoring. READ MORE

  4. 4. Genes predisposing to type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular mortality

    Author : Jenny Fredriksson; diabetes och endokrinologi Genomik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; APOE; APM1; PPARG; PPARGC1A; survival abalysis; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Type 2 Diabetes; cardiovascular mortality; glycogen synthase; adiponectin; GYS1;

    Abstract : Cardiovascular complications are frequent in type 2 diabetes (T2D) and cardiovascular death is the most common cause of death for these individuals. A region on chromosome 19 (19q13) has been indicated by several genome scans as a susceptibility locus for T2D or components of the metabolic syndrome (MetS). READ MORE

  5. 5. On the Tissue-type Plasminogen Activator (t-PA) -7,351C>T Enhancer Polymorphism. Importance for endothelial t-PA gene expression and arterial thrombotic disease

    Author : Anna Tjärnlund-Wolf; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : tissue-type plasminogen activator; plasminogen activator inhibitor type-1; polymorphism; endothelium; Sp1; gene expression; myocardial infarction; ischemic stroke;

    Abstract : Local endothelial release of tissue-type plasminogen activator (t-PA) is an important thromboprotective mechanism. Earlier work by our group has identified a common single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) at the t-PA locus (-7,351C>T), located within a GC-box in the retinoic acid (RA) and steroid hormone responsive t-PA enhancer.
