    Author : Anastasia Papadopoulou; Celiaki och diabetes; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Gestational diabetes mellitus; HLA; TCF7L2; PTPN22; Post partum diabetes; Type 1 Diabetes; Type 2 Diabetes; Islet Cell Autoantibodies;

    Abstract : The aims of this work is to better determine the genetic background of gestational diabetes (GDM) and to examine how specific genes affect the development of diabetes post partum. In the DiPiS (Diabetes Prediction in Skåne) study we typed for HLA-DQB1 alleled, the transcription factor 7-like 2(TCF7L2) rs7903146, rs12255372 and rs7901695 SNPs, the 1858 C>T SNP of the protein tyrosine phosphatase non-receptor 22 (PTPN22) gene and we tested for the presence of islet cell autoantibodies against glutamic acid decarboxylase 65 (GAD65), insulinoma-associated antigen 2 (IA-2) and insulin in women who had been diagnosed with GDM at least once during 2000-2004. 2. 2. Epidemiological Aspects on Assessing and Treating Dyslipidemia in Type 1 Diabetes : Studies from the Swedish National Diabetes Register

    Author : Christel Hero; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Type 1 diabetes; dyslipidemia;

    Abstract : Background: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a major cause of shortened longevity in individuals with type 1 diabetes. Dyslipidemia is one of the important modifiable risk factors. Aims: To investigate different aspects of dyslipidemia in type 1 diabetes. READ MORE

  3. 3. Mechanisms of defective insulin secretion in type 2 diabetes

    Author : Taman Mahdi; Diabetes - öpatofysiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; type 2 diabetes; Insulin secretion; TCF7L2; ADRA2A; KCNQ1; SFRP4; interleukin-1B;

    Abstract : Defective insulin secretion from the pancreatic B-cells is a central feature in type 2 diabetes (T2D). There is a strong hereditary component in type T2D, but the underlying pathophysiology remains largely unknown. READ MORE

  4. 4. Dissecting the role of micro-RNAs in diabetes

    Author : Caroline Bolmeson; Create Health; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Type 1 diabetes; Type 2 diabetes; micro-RNA; Dicer; beta-cell function; insulin secretion; glucose; NOD mouse; Goto-Kakizaki rat; human islets; thymocytes; apoptosis;

    Abstract : The role of miRNAs in pancreatic islets and β-cell function and in the development of diabetes in human and rodents have been investigated in this thesis. Dicer1 was specifically deleted in vivo in pancreatic β-cells under the RIP-promoter in mice. READ MORE

  5. 5. Trials of Diets for Treatment of Diabetes : A comparison of diets for treatment of type 2 diabetes, aspects on long and short term effects
