36. Posttranslational modification of collagen type II : effects on antigen-specific T-cell tolerance and autoreactivity in collagen-induced arthritis
Abstract : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a common chronic inflammatory disease affecting peripheral joints in approximately 1% of the world population. Immunization of susceptible strains with CII, leads to development of collagen-induced arthritis (CIA), an animal model for RA. READ MORE

37. Fabrication and characterization of periodically poled KTB and RB-doped KTB for applications in the visible and UV
Abstract : This thesis deals with the fabrication and the characterization of periodically-poled crystals for use in lasers to generate visible and UV radiation by second-harmonic generation (SHG) through quasi-phasematching (QPM). Such lasers are of practical importance in many applications like high-density optical storage, biomedical instrumentation, colour printing, and for laser displays. READ MORE

39. Palladium(0)-Catalysed Carbonylative Multicomponent Reactions : Synthesis of Heterocycles and the Application of Quinolinyl Pyrimidines as Enzyme Inhibitors
Abstract : Palladium-catalysed carbonylative multicomponent reactions have proven useful for the synthesis of structurally diverse compounds. Carbon monoxide serves as an atom-efficient, one-carbon building block, which allows for further structural elaboration of the carbonyl compound. READ MORE

40. Novel Materials and Technologies for IR Optoelectronic Applications
Abstract : This thesis focuses on novel III-V materials (InAs/GaSb type-II superlattices, T2SL, and dilute bismides) and metamorphic growth techniques for infrared optoelectronics all of which may find wide spread applications in telecommunication, energy harvesting and saving, sensing and imaging. Mid-wavelength infrared (MWIR) and long-wavelength infrared (LWIR) photodetectors at the atmospheric windows of 3-5 and 8-12 µm, respectively, are currently dominated by HgCdTe and quantum well infrared photodetectors.
