1. Functionalization of polymer electrolytes for electrochromic windows
Abstract : Saving energy in buildings is of great importance because about 30 to 40 % of the energy in the world is used in buildings. An electrochromic window (ECW), which makes it possible to regulate the inflow of visible light and solar energy into buildings, is a promising technology providing a reduction in energy consumption in buildings along with indoor comfort. 2. Block Copolymer Electrolytes : Polymers for Solid-State Lithium Batteries
Abstract : The use of solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) for lithium battery devices is a rapidly growing research area. The liquid electrolytes that are used today are inflammable and harmful towards the battery components. READ MORE

3. Molecular Interactions and Dynamics in Lithium Conducting Electrolytes
Abstract : Lithium conducting electrolytes, suitable for battery applications, have been characterized on a molecular level using Raman spectroscopy, ab initio calculations and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, in order to better understand molecular and ionic interactions and dynamics in the systems. Three different types of electrolytes have been investigated; polymer gel electrolytes, solid polymer electrolytes and plastic crystal materials, with the main focus on the polymer based electrolytes. 4. The Rôle of Side-Chains in Polymer Electrolytes for Batteries and Fuel Cells
Abstract : The subject of this thesis relates to the design of new polymer electrolytes for battery and fuel cell applications. Classical Molecular Dynamics (MD) modelling studies are reported of the nano-structure and the local structure and dynamics for two types of polymer electrolyte host: poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) for lithium batteries and perfluorosulfonic acid (PFSA) for polymer-based fuel cells. 5. Neutron Scattering Experiments and Computer Simulation Studies of a Polymer Electrolyte
Abstract : Polymer electrolytes are regarded as key components in promising new types of batteries for portable electronic devices and electric cars. Batteries for such applications require polymer electrolytes with improved properties, e.g. a higher ionic conductivity. READ MORE
