1. A study of slag-steel-inclusion interaction during Ladle treatment
Abstract : The thesis is based on two supplements with two major objectives. In the first supplement equilibrium top slag-steel bulk and inclusions-steel bulk were investigated by comparison between calculated and measured oxygen activity values. This was done by applying different oxide activity models for slags combined with thermodynamic calculations. READ MORE

2. Cold lap formation in Gas Metal Arc Welding of steel : An experimental study of micro-lack of fusion defects
Abstract : Cold laps are defined as micro-lack of fusion defects at the weld toe more or less parallel to the surface of the parent plate. These defects are known to negatively influence the fatigue properties of weldments. Previous studies suggest that cold lap formation can not be avoided completely in Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW). 3. Bracing of steel bridges during construction; theory, full-scale tests and simulations
Abstract : A number of steel bridges have suffered lateral-torsional failure during their construction due to their lacking adequate lateral and/or rotational stiffness. In most cases, slight bracing can be of great benefit to the main girders involved through their controlling out-of-plane deformations and enabling the resistance that is needed to be achieved. 4. Behaviour of pretensioned bolts in friction connections : towards the use of higher strength steels in wind towers
Abstract : During recent years wind energy has established as an alternative to commonenergy sources. To advance its competitiveness, the costs for the constructionof a wind tower have to be reduced. One possible option is the use of frictiongrip joints instead of flange connections to join various tower segments in atubular steel tower. READ MORE

5. Shear walls with double plasterboards : evalutation of design models
Abstract : This thesis presents a part of the ECSC-project Development of dry composite construction systems based on steel in residential application that focus on design recommendations for stabilizing buildings by using shear resistance in the walls. The existing design method suggested and used by the Swedish plasterboard manufacturer Gyproc AB is considered as a bit conservative and it does not consider double plasterboards properly. READ MORE
