  1. 1. Tyre/road interaction : A holistic approach to the functional requirements of road surfaces regarding noise and rolling resistance

    Author : Tiago Vieira; Sigurdur Erlingsson; Ulf Sandberg; Tony Parry; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Road; surface; noise; rolling resistance; tyre; mitigation; Vägbeläggning; vägyta; textur; buller; rullmotstånd; däck; Building Materials; Byggnadsmaterial;

    Abstract : Increased fuel consumption, increased greenhouse gas emission, diminishing real-estate prices and increased health issues are some of  the negative effects on the climate, on the environment and on the society from tyre/road rolling resistance and noise. The first two aspects are affected by energy dissipation in the tyre/pavement contact and are related to rolling resistance. READ MORE

    Abstract : Luftburna partiklar (PM) är ett problem för människans hälsa, där flertalet samband mellan negativa hälsoeffekter finns mellan luftföroreningar finns, bland annat för respiratoriska sjukdomar, lungcancer och kardiovaskulära sjukdomar med flera. I länder där dubbdäck används, till exempel Sverige, Finland och Norge, och sandning av vägar och gator genomförs vintertid för att säkerställa god friktion kommer en betydande andel av partiklarna från vägslitage och nedkrossning av sand vilket bidrar till PM10. 3. 3. Excitation of Tyre Vibrations due to Tyre/Road Interaction

    Author : Frédéric Wullens; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; tyre road interaction; tyre road noise; tyre structure modelling; contact modelling;

    Abstract : Tyre/road noise is the main contributor to road traffic noise at speeds above 40 km/h for passenger cars and above 70 km/h for heavy trucks. Research has been carried out during the last thirty years in order to understand and quantify the generation mechanisms responsible for tyre/road noise. READ MORE

  4. 4. Modelling of Dynamic Contact - Exemplified on the Tyre/Road Interaction

    Author : Krister Larsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; tyre dynamics; rolling noise; rolling contact; dynamic contact; tyre road noise; tyre road interaction;

    Abstract : Noise is a severe problem in modern society. Road traffic noise is a substantial contributor and the tyre/road interaction is the main noise source for normal driving conditions. Despite more than 30 years of research, there is a lack of quantitative tyre/road noise prediction models. READ MORE

  5. 5. High Frequency Tyre Vibrations

    Author : Patrik Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; local deformation; adhesion; tyre model; air pumping; parameter study; tyre road noise; tyre road prediction models; tyre noise;

    Abstract : High frequency (above 1 kHz) noise generation from the tyre/road interaction is still not fully understood and accurately modelled.Two noise generation mechanisms previously suggested in the literature are reviewed: air pumping and noise generation cased by adhesive effects between the tyre tread and road surface.
