1. Ulcerative colitis : colorectal cancer risk and surveillance in an unselected population
Abstract : Ulcerative colitis is a chronic inflammatory disease that mainly affects the colon and rectum. Onset of disease is most common between the ages of 15-35 years. There is an observed increased risk of colorectal cancer associated with the disease. The risk is often described to be 2% after 10 years, 8% after 20 years and 18% after 30 years disease. READ MORE

2. Ulcerative colitis : Imaging of inflammation
Abstract : Ulcerative colitis is a chronic inflannnatory disorder of unknown origin engaging the large bowel. Based on the need for accurate assessment of inflammation, three different non-invasive techniques, two leukocyte scintigraphy techniques and one radiological method, were evaluated in the assessment of active inflammation in altogether 131 patients with ulcerative colitis. 3. Collagenous Colitis : A Study of Inflammatory Mediators and Growth Factors Based on Segmental Colorectal Perfusion and Immunohistochemistry
Abstract : Collagenous colitis (CC) is an inflammatory bowel disease of unknown etiology. It is characterized by watery diarrhoea without blood, normal endoscopic findings but microscopically colonic mucosal inflammation and increased thickness of the subepithelial collagen band, the latter being a pathognomonic sign. 4. Neuro-immune regulation of macromolecular permeability in the normal human colon and in ulcerative colitis
Abstract : Background and aim: Persistent stress and life events affect the course of ulcerative colitis (UC) by largely unknown mechanisms. Regulation of epithelial permeability to antigens is crucial for the balance between inflammation and immuno-surveillance, and increased intestinal permeability has been shown in patients with ulcerative colitis. 5. Microscopic colitis : studies of epidemiology, clinical features and nitric oxide
Abstract : Lymphocytic colitis (LC) and collagenous colitis (CC) arc newly recognised inflammatory bowel diseases belonging to the group of microscopic colitides (MC). They are characterised clinically by chronic non-bloody and watery diarrhoea, and a macroscopically normal or near normal colonic mucosa where diagnostic histopathological abnormalities are found.
