1. Determination of some polybrominated flame retardants in biota, sediment and sewage sludge
Abstract : Brominated flame retardants (BFRs) are mainly used in different polymers, and can be released to the environment during industrial processes, during the entire life-time of the flame-retarded product and after disposal. The aim of the present study was to gain knowledge about occurrence and concentrations of some BFRs in the environment, to search for sources for these chemicals and to investigate changes in concentrations over time. 2. Compound-specific bromine isotope analysis of methyl bromide using GC-multiple collector mass spectrometry
Abstract : The isotopic composition of ozone depleting methyl halides may provide valuable information on the sources and sinks of these compounds. However, so far mostly stable carbon isotope analysis of methyl chloride and methyl bromide has been attempted. READ MORE

3. Legacy persistent organic pollutants and chemicals of emerging concern in Sweden : from indoor environments to remote areas
Abstract : Bulk atmospheric deposition samples were taken every two months for a year in 2009-2010 at two sites in northern Sweden and analyzed for a suite of legacy and emerging persistent organic chemicals including legacy organochlorine pesticides (OCPs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) and novel flame retardants (NFRs). To further investigate the urban occurrence and contribution to remote contamination of flame retardants, indoor air, ventilation system air, and dust were sampled in several microenvironments in Stockholm during the winter of 2012 for analysis of PBDEs, isomer-specific hexabromocyclododecane (HBCDD), and NFRs. 4. Occurrence and fate of emerging and legacy flame retardants : from indoor environments to remote areas
Abstract : Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) are toxic chemicals that can be found in various matrices in all corners of the planet, including remote areas such as the Arctic. Several POPs are known and monitored but given the abundance of new chemicals in commerce about which little is known, chemicals that may be new POPs are constantly being screened for. READ MORE

5. Linking exposure pathways to internal concentrations of brominated flame retardants in Swedish mothers and their toddlers
Abstract : Brominated flame retardants (BFRs) have been used in a variety of consumer products to enhance their fire safety. This has resulted in exposure of the environment, wildlife and humans causing risks of endocrine disruption. READ MORE
