  1. 1. Design Space Exploration of Digital Circuits for Ultra-low Energy Dissipation

    Author : Syed Muhammad Yasser Sherazi; Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CMOS; ultra low-voltage; ultra low-energy; subthreshold sub-VT ; body biasing; pipelining; unfolding; half-band digital filter.;

    Abstract : The ever expanding market of ultra portable electronic products is compelling the designer to invest major efforts in the development of small and low energy electronic devices. The driving force and benefactors of such devices are (but not limited to) e-health system, sensor network applications, security systems, environmental applications, and home automation systems. 2. 2. Oxidation of some Late Transition Metal Surfaces: Structural Studies from UHV to Atmospheric Pressure

    Author : Johan Gustafson; Synkrotronljusfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Kondenserade materiens egenskaper:struktur; phase equilibria; crystallography; thermal and mechanical properties; Condensed matter:stucture; density functional theory; scanning tunneling microscopy; surface x-ray diffraction; high resolution core level spectroscopy; low energy electron diffraction; metal surfaces; oxidation; catalysis; egenskaper termiska och mekaniska ; kristallografi; fasjämvikt;

    Abstract : The oxidation of Rh, Pd and Pt is studied under conditions ranging from ultra high vacuum to ambient pressures, with emphasis on a complete understanding of the geometry of the various oxide structures found. The investigations use a combination of various experimental methods, including high resolution core level spectroscopy, low energy electron diffraction, surface x-ray diffraction and scanning tunneling microscopy, as well as density functional theory calculations. 3. 3. Laser welding of ultra-high strength steel and a cast magnesium alloy for light-weight design

    Author : Karl Fahlström; Lars-Erik Svensson; Leif Karlsson; Michael Rethmeier; Högskolan Väst; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Laser welding; ultra-high strength steel; cast magnesium alloy; light-weight design; automotive industry; distortion; porosity; Production Technology; Produktionsteknik; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik;

    Abstract : There is a strong industrial need for developing robust and flexible manufacturing methods for future light-weight design. Better performing, environmental friendly vehicles will gain competitive strength from using light weight structures. READ MORE

  4. 4. Ultra-low Power Design Approaches in Memories and Assist Techniques

    Author : Babak Mohammadi; Integrerade elektroniksystem; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Memory; SRAM; assist technique; charge pump; ULP; ULV;

    Abstract : The need for more functionality and higher performance has increased the number of transistors to billions in current processors. A high number of transistors on the same chip area increases the power density, which in turn heats up the devices and lowers the life time of batteries. READ MORE

  5. 5. Atomically Resolved ac-Mode Atomic Force Microscopy in Ultra-High Vacuum

    Author : Lars Olsson; Franz Giessibl; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : When the atomic force microscope (AFM) was invented in 1986, it was anticipated that the technique should be able to produce atomically resolved images with aquality similar to what was routinely obtained with the scanning tunnelling microscope (STM). Even though the AFM quickly became a very popular technique, the development toward ultra-high resolution imaging turned out to be slow due to problems of both fundamental and technical nature.
