1. Ultra Wideband: Communication and Localization
Abstract : The first part of this thesis develops methods for UWB communication. To meet the stringent regulatory body constraints, the physical layer signaling technique of the UWB transceiver should be optimally designed. READ MORE

2. Design and Fabrication of Ultra-Wideband Bandpass Filter Based on Liquid Crystal Polymer Substrates
Abstract : For millimeter (mm)-wave systems’ applications, as frequency is moving towards higher and higher bands, materials and integration technologies are witnessing higher performance demands and consequently higher constraints. From a material’s point of view, the selection of substrate material has recently drawn considerable attention in the design of the whole mm-wave system. READ MORE

3. Design, Fabrication and Characterization of Microwave Passive Devices on Liquid Crystal Polymer Substrates
Abstract : For microwave/millimeter (mm)-wave systems’ applications, as frequency is moving towards higher and higher bands, materials and integration technologies are witnessing higher performance demands and constraints. The materials presently used as mm-wave substrates are either expensive or show unsatisfactory performance. READ MORE

4. On the Physical Layer of Ultra-Wideband Systems
Abstract : This licentiate thesis consists of two published conference papers, onetechnical report, and an introduction. The focus is on communication at bitrates of 100 Mbps and higher for single-user systems at short range up to 10meters. READ MORE

5. Ultra-Wideband Low-Noise Amplifier andSix-Port Transceiver for High Speed DataTransmission
Abstract : Today’s data rates in wired networks can reach 100 Gbit/s using optical fiber while data rates in wireless networks are much lower - tens of Mbit/s for 3G mobile communication and 480 Mbit/s for ultra-wideband (UWB) short range wireless communications. This difference in data rates can mainly be explained by the limited allowed frequency spectrum, the nature of the radio signal and the high requirements imposed on all hardware designed for high speed and wideband wireless communications.
