1. Analysis of tracer molecules from organic aerosols - Application of liquid phase microextraction to aerosol analysis
Abstract : Airborne particulate matter is well known because of its adverse impacts on human health and its role in climate processes. In order to understand completely the role of aerosols in atmosphere, their chemical composition is of basic importance. READ MORE

2. Recycling of CIGS solar cells: environmentally friendly approaches for silver and indium recovery
Abstract : The increase in electricity produced by solar energy is expected to create an end-of-life photovoltaics (PV) waste problem in the following decades, while their manufacturing waste is already a reality. However, their recycling is still at a primitive stage. READ MORE

3. New methods for determination of airborne pollutants : Focus on tetrabromobisphenol A, organophosphate triesters and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons
Abstract : The work presented in this thesis concerns the development and evaluation of new methods of sampling and analysis of organic pollutants in the indoor and outdoor environment. In Paper I, the development of a new method was reported for the determination of the brominated flame retardant tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA) in air using sampling with glass fiber filter and polyurethane foam (PUF), ultrasonic solvent extraction and liquid chromatography coupled to electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry (LC-ESI/MS). 4. Ultrasonic characterization of materials and multiphase flows
Abstract : This thesis deals with three different applications of ultrasound measurement technology. In process industries like the mining industry, the oil and gas industry, and the paper pulp industry, multiphase flows play an important role. READ MORE

5. Methods for Determination of Benzo(a)pyrene and High Molecular Weight (>300 Da) Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Particulate Matter from Ambient Air and Vehicle Exhausts
Abstract : Air pollution with particulate matter (PM) raises considerable concern because of its adverse effects on human health. For this reason, and because the mechanisms of PM toxicity are not fully known, there is an urgent need to determine the chemical constituents of atmospheric PM, especially PM emanating from traffic - a major source of urban PM.
