16. Annealed Glass Failure Modelling : A Weakest-Link Approach with Statistical Analysis
Abstract : Novel and increased use of glass in building construction has been made possible, as a result of methods of mass production introduced during the 20th century and advanced computational structural analyses. With modern use of glass structures, a range of demands emerge which need to be addressed in the strength design process. READ MORE

17. Performance Studies of Fault-Tolerant Middleware
Abstract : Today’s software engineering and application development trend is to take advantage of reusable software. Much effort is directed towards easing the task of developing complex, distributed, network based applications with reusable components. To ease the task of the distributed systems’ developers, one can use middleware, i.e. READ MORE

18. Quantified In Situ Analysis of Initial Atmospheric Corrosion : Surface heterogeneity, galvanic effects and corrosion product distribution on zinc, brass and Galvalume
Abstract : The interaction of the surface of a pure metal or an alloy with the surrounding atmosphere occurs in a highly complex interfacial regime. During atmospheric corrosion this interfacial regime involves the metal surface, often covered by a naturally formed oxide layer of a few nanometers thickness; an aqueous adlayer, typically with a thickness of a few to a few tens of nanometers, and the atmosphere from which airborne particles, oxygen, and gaseous pollutants dissolve into the adlayer and influence the atmospheric corrosion process. 19. On Simulation of Uniform Wear and Profile Evolution in the Wheel - Rail Contact
Abstract : Numerical procedures for reliable wheel and rail wear prediction are rare. Recent development of simulation techniques and computer power together with tribological knowledge do however suggest computer aided wear prediction as possible. READ MORE

20. Sulfur-Related Conservation Concerns in Marine Archaeological Wood : The Origin, Speciation and Distribution of Accumulated Sulfur with Some Remedies for the Vasa
Abstract : Synchrotron-based sulfur spectroscopy reveals a common concern for marine archaeological wood from seawater: accumulation of reduced sulfur compounds in two pathways. The distribution of sulfur species in the oak wood cell structure was mapped by scanning x-ray spectro-microscopy (SXM). READ MORE
