  1. 1. Three-body Universality Controlled by a Feshbach Resonance

    Author : Kajsa-My Tempest; Svante Jonsell; Doerte Blume; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Efimov states; few-body systems; ultracold atoms; van der Waals interaction; Feshbach resonances; universality; computational studies; Theoretical Physics; teoretisk fysik;

    Abstract : The quantum Efimov effect manifests itself in the limit of resonant two-body interactions, where the scattering length diverges. In this scenario, an infinite number of shallow bound trimer states are formed with binding energies that obey a discrete geometric scaling law. READ MORE

  2. 2. Asymptotic Analysis of Machine Learning Models: Comparison Theorems and Universality

    Author : David Bosch; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; CGMT; Machine Learning; convex gaussian min max theorem; Asymptotic; universality;

    Abstract : The study of Machine Learning models in asymptotic regimes, has provided insight into many of the properties of ML models, but seemingly contradicts classical statistical wisdom. To solve this mystery, this thesis focuses on the analysis of models such as the LASSO and Random features regression, when the data points and model parameters grow infinite at constant ratios. 3. 3. Gaussian conversion protocols forcubic phase state generation

    Author : Yu Zheng; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Continuous variables; Cubic phasestate; Quantum computing; Universality; Gaussian protocols;

    Abstract : This licentiate thesis will introduce the background of the appended paper. The scope of this thesis is to find a Gaussian conversion protocol that allows one to prepare cubic phase states, which are resourceful states for achieving universality in continuous-variable quantum computation. 4. 4. Properties of invariant sets in certain two-dimensional dynamical systems : Renormalization and beyond

    Author : Dan Lilja; Denis Gaidashev; Konstantin Khanin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Dynamical systems; renormalization; area-preserving maps; unbounded geometry; almost commuting pairs; universality; non-rigidity;

    Abstract : This thesis consists of an introduction and four research papers concerning dynamical systems, focusing on renormalization in two dimensions.Paper I (joint with Jordi-Lluís Figueras) studies a generalization of the anti-integrable limit of skew-product systems based on a Frenkel-Kontorova model. 5. 5. Glycolytic oscillations in individual yeast cells

    Author : Anna-Karin Gustavsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Optical manipulation; Microfluidics; Fluorescence microscopy; Single cell analysis; Saccharomyces cerevisiae; Glycolysis; Oscillations; NADH; Heterogeneity; Synchronization; Robustness; Universality;

    Abstract : Oscillations in the concentration of yeast glycolytic intermediates have been intensively studied since the 1950s, but these studies have so far been limited to observations of average oscillatory behavior in synchronized cultures. Hence, it has remained unknown whether the onset of oscillations is a collective property of the population which requires a high cell density, or if individual cells can oscillate also in isolation.
