1. Design Optimization of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles : A System of Systems Approach
Abstract : Over the last years, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) have gradually become a more efficient alternative to manned aircraft, and at present, they are being deployed in a broad spectrum of both military as well as civilian missions. This has led to an unprecedented market expansion with new challenges for the aeronautical industry, and as a result, it has created a need to implement the latest design tools in order to achieve faster idea-to-market times and higher product performance. 2. On the utilization of Nonlinear MPC for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Path Planning
Abstract : This compilation thesis presents an overarching framework on the utilization of nonlinear model predictive control(NMPC) for various applications in the context of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) path planning and collision avoidance. Fast and novel optimization algorithms allow for NMPC formulations with high runtime requirement, as those posed by controlling UAVs, to also have sufficiently large prediction horizons as to in an efficient manner integrate collision avoidance in the form of set-exclusion constraints that constrain the available position-space of the robot. 3. Model Predictive Control for Cooperative Rendezvous of Autonomous Unmanned Vehicles
Abstract : This thesis investigates cooperative maneuvers for aerial vehicles autonomously landing on moving platforms. The objective has been to develop methods for safely performing such landings on real systems subject to a variety of disturbances, as well as physical and computational constraints. READ MORE

4. Smart Technologies for Unmanned Surface Vessels : On the Path Towards Full Automation
Abstract : As for the automotive industry, large efforts are being made by industry andacademia to create autonomous ships. Te solutions for this is very technologyintense, as many building blocks, often relying on AI technology, need to worktogether to create a complete system that is safe and reliable to use. READ MORE

5. Automation in forestry : development of unmanned forwarders
Abstract : For the last 50 year, forestry operations have become more and more mechanized. In modern forestry in Europe two machines are typically used; a harvester that fells, debranches and cross-cuts the trees into logs and a forwarder that transports them to the nearest road. READ MORE
