11. An in-situ ATR-FTIR Spectroscopy Study of Adsorption in MFI Zeolites : A step towards effective upgrading of biofuels
Abstract : Global warming is believed to be caused by the extensive emission of greenhouse gases, for example carbon dioxide, into the atmosphere by combustion of fossil fuels, such as coal, oil and natural gas. To reduce the emission of carbon dioxide and hence avoid global warming, alternative fuels derived from renewable resources are desired. READ MORE

12. From torrefaction to gasification : Pilot scale studies for upgrading of biomass
Abstract : Increasing the share of biomass, preferably by replacing fossil fuels, is one way to mitigate the present climate change. Fossil coal can be directly replaced by co-combustion of coal and biomass and fossil engine fuels (gasoline and diesel) could potentially partly be replaced by synthetic renewable fuels produced via entrained flow gasification of biomass. 13. Hydrometallurgical upgrading of a tetrahedrite-rich copper concentrate
Abstract : Removal of impurity elements in copper metallurgy is one of the major problems encountered today since pure copper ore reserves are becoming exhausted and the resources of unexploited ores often contain relatively high amounts of antimony, arsenic, mercury and bismuth, which need to be eliminated. The present work aims at pre-treating a tetrahedrite rich complex copper sulphide concentrate by selective dissolution of the impurities, therefore, upgrading it for pyrometallurgical processing. 14. Housing clusters for densification within an upgrading strategy : the case of Kampala, Uganda
Abstract : The process of urbanisation in the urban centres of most sub-Saharan African countries has been brought about by numerous factors including rural to urban migration, natural increase in population, and in-migration. In Uganda due to these factors the capital city Kampala is growing rapidly. READ MORE
