  1. 6. Modeling, Control and Optimization of a Plate Reactor

    Author : Staffan Haugwitz; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; mid-ranging control; transition control; start-up; exothermic reaction; chemical reactor; modeling; process control; optimization; Automation; robotics; control engineering; Automatiska system; robotteknik; reglerteknik;

    Abstract : A new chemical reactor, the Alfa Laval Plate Reactor, is being developed by Alfa Laval, a Swedish world-leading heat exchanger company. The plate reactor combines the high-heat-transfer capabilities of plate heat exchangers with the efficient mixing and reaction control typical of microreactors. READ MORE

  2. 7. On Stabilization of Sensorless Synchronous Motor Drives and Traction Converters

    Author : Magnus Jansson; Lennart Harnefors; Mats Alakula; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electronics; Elektronik; elektronik; Electronics;

    Abstract : Avhandlingen behandlar först och främst styrning av elmotordrifter, men vi tittar även på styrning av nätomriktare för stabil framdrivning av tåg.Två industriprojekt är rapporterade i avhandlingen, i form av delrapporterna ”Sensorless Control of Electrically Excited Synchronous Machines”, ABB Corporate Research och ”Stable and Passive Traction”, Bombardier Transportation. 3. 8. Efficient Modeling of Modular Multilevel Converters for HVDC Transmission Systems

    Author : Noman Ahmed; Hans-Peter Nee; Tim Green; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; High-Voltage dc; Modular Multilevel Converter; Voltage-Source Converter; HVDC Grids; Multiterminal DC Systems; Hybrid HVDC Breaker; Modeling; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : The drive towards getting more and more electrical energy from renewable sources, requires more efficient electric transmission systems. A stronger grid, with more controllability and higher capacity, that can handle power fluctuations due to a mismatch between generation and load is also needed. READ MORE

  4. 9. Fundamental investigation to improve the quality of cold mix asphalt

    Author : Abdullah Khan; Nicole Kringos; Per Redelius; Amit Bhasin; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Bitumen; Cold Asphalt Mixtures; Minerals Aggregates; Surface Free Energy; Sorption; Contact Angle; Bitumen Emulsions; Breaking and Coalescence.; Bitumen; kallblandad asfaltmassa; mineraler aggregat; fri ytenergi; sorption; kontaktvinkel; bitumenemulsion; brytning och blandning.; Transportvetenskap; Transport Science;

    Abstract : Cold mix asphalt (CMA) emulsion technology could become an attractive option for the road industry as it offers lower startup and equipment installation costs, energy consumption and environmental impact than traditional alternatives. The adhesion between bitumen and aggregates is influenced by diverse parameters, such as changes in surface free energies of the binder and aggregates or the presence of moisture or dust on the surface of aggregates, mixing temperatures, surface textures (including open porosity), nature of the minerals present and their surface chemical composition, as well as additives in the binder phase. 5. 10. Nitritation and denitritation in sludge liquor treatment

    Author : David Gustavsson; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; nitritation; denitritation; nitrous oxide; nitric oxide; nitrogen dioxide; wastewater; sludge liquor;

    Abstract : Enhanced biological nitrogen removal at municipal wastewater treatment plants is a common procedure to prevent eutrophication in water bodies. Increased load, stricter effluent regulations, and demands for reduced resource and energy consumption present new challenges for the wastewater treatment plants. READ MORE
