  1. 1. Multitemporal Remote Sensing for Urban Mapping using KTH-SEG and KTH-Pavia Urban Extractor

    Author : Alexander Jacob; Yifang Ban; Paolo Gamba; Francesca Bovolo; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; KTH-SEG; ASAR; HJ-1B; Urban Land Cover Mapping; OBIA; Segmentation; Image Classification; KTH-Pavia Urban Extractor; Urban Extent; Geodesy and Geoinformatics; Geodesi och geoinformatik;

    Abstract : The objective of this licentiate thesis is to develop novel algorithms and improve existing methods for urban land cover mapping and urban extent extraction using multi-temporal remote sensing imagery. Past studies have demonstrated that synthetic aperture radar (SAR) have very good properties for the analysis of urban areas, the synergy of SAR and optical data is advantageous for various applications. 2. 2. Urban Area Information Extraction From Polarimetric SAR Data

    Author : Deliang Xiang; Yifang Ban; Thuy Le Toan; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Polarimetric SAR; Scattering Decomposition; Man-Made Target Detection; Edge Detection; Superpixel; Urban Classification; Polarimetrisk SAR; Spridningsnedbrytning; Upptäckt av artificiella objekt; Kantupptäckt; Superpixel; Urban klassificering; Geodesy and Geoinformatics; Geodesi och geoinformatik;

    Abstract : Polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar (PolSAR) has been used for various remote sensing applications since more information could be obtained in multiple polarizations. The overall objective of this thesis is to investigate urban area information extraction from PolSAR data with the following specific objectives: (1) to exploit polarimetric scattering model-based decomposition methods for urban areas, (2) to investigate effective methods for man-made target detection, (3) to develop edge detection and superpixel generation methods, and (4) to investigate urban area classification and segmentation. 3. 3. Multitemporal Spaceborne Polarimetric SAR Data for Urban Land Cover Mapping

    Author : Xin Niu; Yifang Ban; Paolo Gamba; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; RADARSAT-2; spaceborne; polarimetric SAR; urban land cover; classification; Information technology; Informationsteknik;

    Abstract : Urban represents one of the most dynamic areas in the global change context. To support rational policies for sustainable urban development, remote sensing technologies such as Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) enjoy increasing popularity for collecting up-to-date and reliable information such as urban land cover/land-use. 4. 4. Multitemporal Spaceborne Polarimetric SAR Data for Urban Land Cover Mapping

    Author : Xin Niu; Yifang Ban; Laurent Ferro-Famil; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; RADARSAT-2; Spaceborne; Polarimetric SAR; Urban Land cover; Object-based Rule-based Classification; Support Vector Machines; Contextual; Stochastic Expectation-Maximization; Markov Random Field.;

    Abstract : Urban land cover mapping represents one of the most important remote sensing applications in the context of rapid global urbanization. In recent years, high resolution spaceborne Polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar (PolSAR) has been increasingly used for urban land cover/land-use mapping, since more information could be obtained in multiple polarizations and the collection of such data is less influenced by solar illumination and weather conditions. 5. 5. Analysis and Design of Base Station Antennas for Mobile Communications

    Author : Björn Lindmark; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; polarization diversity; dual polarization; adaptive antennas; moment method; genetic algorithm; antenna arrays; radio propagation; channel sounding; aperture coupled patch;

    Abstract : The thesis deals with base station antennas and the environment they work in. Polarization diversity, dual band operation, and adaptive antenna systems are discussed with emphasis on how antennas for these applications should be designed. We compare the polarization diversity performance of different types of dual polarized antenna elements. READ MORE
