  1. 16. Hydrological modelling of green urban drainage systems : Advancing the understanding and management of uncertainties in data, model structure and objective functions

    Author : Ico Broekhuizen; Maria Viklander; Günther Leonhardt; Jörg Rieckermann; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering; Centre - Centre for Stormwater Management DRIZZLE ; Centrumbildning - Centrum för dagvattenhantering DRIZZLE ;

    Abstract : The use of green urban drainage systems such as green roofs, swales and pervious areas has in recent years become a popular option to reduce flood risk and water quality problems in a more sustainable way than with traditional pipe-based drainage systems. Computer models are valuable tools for the management of such systems. READ MORE

  2. 17. Green Is Not Just Green : human colour perception in urban green contexts

    Author : Petra Thorpert; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The thesis is intended to be part of a larger process and field, by helping to increase understanding of how changed colour characteristics in urban green spaces can influence human experiences. More specifically, the thesis explores whether human colour perception is influenced by factors such as viewing distance, seasons, species mixture, or colourful artefacts incorporated in urban green spaces. 3. 18. Generation of urban runoff : Seasonal and climate change perspective

    Author : Shahab Moghadas; Claes Hernebring; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Abstract : Runoff generation in cold regions is characterized by snowmelt contributions to runoff during the periods of thawing and changing runoff patterns due to frozen ground. This thesis project aimed at addressing these challenges by advancing the procedures for winter urban runoff computations and the assessment of control measures during the winter/spring period, when the snowmelt and frozen soils dominantly impact runoff generation in the current and future climates. Abstract : With accelerating urbanization it is crucial to understand how urban ecosystems play a part in generating ecosystem services for urban dwellers, such as clean water, spaces for recreation, stress relief and improved air quality. An equally important question relate to who gets to enjoy these benefits, i.e. READ MORE
