  1. 1. Decreased furnace wall corrosion in fluidised bed boilers - The influence of fuel lead content and sewage sludge additive

    Author : Annika Talus; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; demolition-wood; alkali chlorides; Furnace wall corrosion; lead oxide; used-wood; salt melt; lead oxychloride; sewage sludge; chlorine-induced corrosion;

    Abstract : Usage of used-wood fuel in the power industry has resulted in increased corrosion problems for metallic materials in the boilers, most probably due to relatively high amounts of chlorine, alkali metals and heavy metals present in the fuel.In this investigation, laboratory exposures were performed in order to study the influence of lead content in a wood-based fuel on the corrosion of selected materials. 2. 2. Physical-mechanical properties and natural durability of lesser used wood species from Mozambique

    Author : Alexandre Charifo Ali; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The aim of this study is to assess properties of lesser used/known timbers from Mozambique. The studied species were ncurri (Icuria dunensis Wieringa), ntholo (Pseudolachnostylis maprounaefolia Pax), metil (Sterculia appendiculata K. Schum), namuno (Acacia nigrescens Oliv.) and muanga (Pericopsis angolensis Meeuwen). READ MORE

  3. 3. Anatomy, drying behaviour and mechanical properties of lesser used wood species from Mozambique

    Author : Ernesto Uetimane Junior; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The study provides an overview of Mozambique timber sector, descriptive and comparative wood anatomy, drying experiments and interrelationships between mechanics, density and anatomical features of lesser used species from Mozambique. Exhaustive literature review described the timber sector as dominated by few hardwood species selectively harvested from a forest containing 118 potential wood species. READ MORE

    Abstract : The use of renewable wood-based fuel has been increasing in the last few decades because it is said to be carbon neutral. However, wood-based fuel, and especially used wood (also known as recycled wood or waste wood), is more corrosive than virgin wood (forest fuel), because of higher amounts of chlorine and heavy metals. 5. 5. Means to measure people's attitudes towards wood

    Author : Olof Broman; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Wood Technology; Träteknik;

    Abstract : Wood is a material with many faces. It evokes feelings in us that no artificial material can do. Wood has inherent aesthetic features which, rightly used, give the final product competitive advantage over other materials.In this thesis people's feelings and preferences for Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) wood surfaces have been examined.
