    Abstract : The last couple of years have marked the entire field of information technology with the introduction of a new global resource, called data. Certainly, one can argue that large amounts of information and highly interconnected and complex datasets were available since the dawn of the computer and even centuries before. READ MORE

  3. 3. Adding usability : Methods for modelling, user interface design and evaluation

    Author : Magnus Lif; Uppsala universitet; []

    Abstract : Many system development projects fail to provide information systems with high usability. This thesis focuses on how to solve this problem by introducing methods for modelling, user interface design and evaluation. These methods are primarily designed to serve as complements to existing methods for systems development. READ MORE

    Abstract : The way we interact with computers and computer systems are constantly changing as technology evolves. A current trend is that users interact with multiple andinterconnected devices on a daily basis. They are beginning to request ways and means of dividing and spreading their applications acrossthese devices. READ MORE

  5. 5. Multi-Layered User Interface Design

    Author : Linn Gustafsson Christiernin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : In this thesis work we focus on further developing and redefining an interface design concept especially adapted to consider the needs and the knowledge level of many individual users, at once taking the tasks they perform and their learning into careful consideration. The design concept, called Multi-Layered Design (or a Level-structured approach, sometimes even called a spiral approach), was first suggested by Ben Schneiderman in 1998 and then further explored during 1999 to 2003.
