    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Membrane Distillation; Experimental investigations; Techno-economic; Wastewater; Flue gas condensate; Waste heat; District heating; Nano-electronics; Cogeneration; Sustainable development; Energy Technology; Energiteknik; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : The European Union has placed a high priority on reaching the goals described in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This aim has provided added momentum to member-state environmental regulatory authorities to further tighten the discharge limits of industrial wastewater. READ MORE

  2. 2. Thermoelectric Ba8Ga16Ge30 clathrates for waste heat recovery

    Author : Daniel Cederkrantz; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; thermal stability; substitution; thermal conductivity; Seebeck coefficient; electrical resistance; Clathrates; Ba8Ga16Ge30; waste heat recovery; semiconductors;

    Abstract : The modern, highly industrialized, society of today requires huge amounts of energy to function. This has resulted in a heavy dependence on the very energy efficient fossil fuels, a source of energy which of course is not infinite and we are slowly approaching the day when oil runs out. 3. 3. Material Solutions for Mitigating High Temperature Corrosion in Biomass- and Waste-fired Boilers - Utilizing Novel FeCrAl Alloys and HVAF-sprayed Ni-based Coatings

    Author : Johan Eklund; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Waste; HVAF; High temperature corrosion; Biomass; FeCrAl alloys; Ni-based coatings; Silicon;

    Abstract : Combustion of biomass and waste for heat and electricity production is a promising alternative to fossil fuels and is thereby an important step towards a more sustainable future. However, due to substantial amounts of alkali- and chlorine-containing species as well as moisture in biomass and waste, the combustion of these results in a highly corrosive environment which accelerates the degradation of steel components in the boiler, drastically increasing the maintenance costs. 4. 4. High Temperature Corrosion of FeCrAl Alloys in Biomass- and Waste-fired Boilers - The Influence of Alloying Elements in Prediction and Mitigation of Corrosion in Harsh Environments

    Author : Johan Eklund; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Overlay Welding; Waste; High Temperature Corrosion; Silicon; FeCrAl alloys; Breakaway Oxidation; Biomass; HVAF; Coatings;

    Abstract : Combustion of biomass and waste for heat and power production is an alternative to fossil fuels and can be an important step towards a more sustainable future. The electrical efficiency of the fuel-to-energy conversion process is largely dependent on the steam parameters (temperature and pressure) of the combined heat and power (CHP) plants. READ MORE

  5. 5. High-Capacity Cool Thermal Energy Storage for Peak Shaving - a Solution for Energy Challenges in the 21st century

    Author : Bo He; KTH; []
    Keywords : Comfort cooling; peak shaving; phase change materials PCM ; cool thermal energy storage; DSC; phase change temperature; the heat of fusion; phase equilibrium; phase diagram.;

    Abstract : Due to climatic change, increasing thermal loads inbuildings and rising living standards, comfort cooling inbuildings is becoming increasingly important and the demand forcomfort cooling is expanding very quickly around the world. Theincreased cooling demand results in a peak in electrical powerdemand during the hottest summer hours. READ MORE
