  1. 1. Multivariate spectroscopic methods for the analysis of solutions

    Author : Kent Wiberg; Sven Jacobsson; Lars Nørgaard; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemometrics; UV-Vis spectroscopy; Multivariate calibration; Lidocaine; Identity; Content; PLS; SIMCA; Non-column; Diode array UV spectroscopy; DAD; Control sample; High Capacity Analysis HCA ; Fluorescence spectroscopy; Albumin; Immunoglobulin G; HPLC-DAD; Prilocaine; Peak purity determination; PCA; PARAFAC; Partial separation; Curve resolution; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : In this thesis some multivariate spectroscopic methods for the analysis of solutions are proposed. Spectroscopy and multivariate data analysis form a powerful combination for obtaining both quantitative and qualitative information and it is shown how spectroscopic techniques in combination with chemometric data evaluation can be used to obtain rapid, simple and efficient analytical methods. Author : John Åhlund; Carla Puglia; Joachim Schiessling; Emanuelle Göthelid; Nils Mårtensson; Nadine Witkowski; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; PhotoElectron Spectroscopy PES ; X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy XAS ; UltraViolet-Visible absorption spectroscopy UV-Vis ; Scanning Tunneling Microscopy STM ; Phthalocyanine Pc ; Iron Phthalocyanine FePc ; metal-free Phthalocyanine H2Pc ; Zinc Phthalocyanine ZnPc ; Graphite HOPG ; Indium Antimony InSb ; Surface science; Fysik;

    Abstract : Core- and Valence Photoelectron Spectroscopy (PES), X-ray- and Ultraviolet-Visible Absorption Spectroscopy (XAS and UV-Vis), Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM) and Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations are used to study the electronic and geometrical structure of a class of macro-cyclic molecules, Phthalocyanines (Pc), on surfaces. These molecules are widely studied due to their application in many different fields. READ MORE

  3. 3. Development and Application of Non-linear Mid-infrared Laser Spectroscopy for Combustion Diagnostics

    Author : Zhiwei Sun; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Degenerate four-wave mixing; Polarization spectroscopy; Mid-infrared; Non-linear laser spectroscopy; Laser diagnostics; Combustion; Flame; HITRAN; Concentration; Temperature; Fysicumarkivet A:2012:Sun;

    Abstract : The work reported in this thesis involved the development and application of two novel infrared non-linear laser techniques, namely mid-infrared polarization spectroscopy (IRPS) and mid-infrared degenerate four-wave mixing (IR-DFWM) to combustion diagnostics. These two techniques meet the needs of species concentration detection in combustion environments, especially for those species lacking accessible electronic (one-photon) transitions in the ultraviolet (UV) or visible spectral region. 4. 4. Development of Laser-Spectroscopic Techniques for New Detection Schemes in Combustion Diagnostics

    Author : Johan Zetterberg; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Laser-Spectroscopy; Laser Combustion Diagnostics; Rayleigh scattering; FRS; LIF; Polarization Spectroscopy; PS; IRPS;

    Abstract : The thesis work, aimed at the development of laser-spectroscopic detection schemes, consists of three parts, concerned with the development and application of different techniques. The development of UV filtered Rayleigh scattering (FRS) for thermometry and fuel/air ratio measurements, using a frequency tripled, single-longitudinal-mode alexandrite laser at ~254 nm together with an isotopically enhanced mercury filter, is examined first. 5. 5. Photon Upconversion through Triplet-Triplet Annihilation: Towards Higher Efficiency and Solid State Applications

    Author : Damir Dzebo; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; solar energy conversion; triplet-triplet annihilation; energy transfer; fluorescence anisotropy; anti-stokes; photon upconversion; excited state; porphyrins; photochemistry; photophysics; delayed fluorescence; dendrimers; anthracene; oligomers; spectroscopy;

    Abstract : The sun is the only renewable energy source that can accommodate humanity’s energyneeds today and in the foreseeable future. The sunlight reaching the planet’s surfaceis filtrated through the atmosphere, reducing its UV-light intensity in the 300-400 nmrange, which indeed can be harmful to life as we know it in too large doses.
