  1. 1. Systematics and biogeography of the South African Metalasia clade (Asteraceae-Gnaphalieae)

    Author : Annika Bengtson; Per Ola Karis; Anthony Verboom; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; växtsystematik; Plant Systematics;

    Abstract : The Metalasia clade (Asteraceae–Gnaphalieae) consisting of the genera Metalasia, Atrichantha, Calotesta, Dolichothrix, Hydroidea, Lachnospermum, Phaenocoma, and Planea is endemic to South Africa with a main distribution within the Cape Floristic Region (CFR), a region known for its remarkable botanical diversity.The monophyly of the Metalasia clade, the relationships of its genera, and the circumscription of these as well as their position within the tribe Gnaphalieae is investigated using molecular data. 2. 2. Pollen and pollination in Ephedra (Gnetales)

    Author : Kristina Bolinder; Catarina Rydin; Johan Ehrlén; Michael S Zavada; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; aerodynamics; evolution; moonlight; pollination; pollen morphology; ultrastructure; växtsystematik; Plant Systematics;

    Abstract : Ephedra (Gnetales) is a gymnosperm genus with a long evolutionary history; the first dispersed pollen grains with affinity to the group are known already from the Permian. This thesis focuses on the evolutionary history of the group and different aspects of its pollination mechanisms. READ MORE

  3. 3. Pollination in Ephedra (Gnetales)

    Author : Kristina Bolinder; Catarina Rydin; Jürg Schönenberger; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; växtsystematik; Plant Systematics;

    Abstract : Pollination, i.e., the transport of male gametophytes to female gametophytes, can occur with biotic or abiotic vectors and is necessary for fertilization and completion of the lifecycle in all seed plants. READ MORE

  4. 4. Evolutionary relationships in Thunbergioideae and other early branching lineages of Acanthaceae

    Author : Agneta Julia Borg; Jürg Schönenberger; Richard Olmstead; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; växtsystematik; Plant Systematics;

    Abstract : Acanthaceae as circumscribed today consists of the three subfamilies Acanthoideae (Acanthaceae sensu stricto), Thunbergioideae and Nelsoniodieae, plus the genus Avicennia. Due to the morphological dissimilarities of Thunbergioideae and Nelsonioideae, the delimitation of the family has been controversial. READ MORE

  5. 5. Phylogenetic studies in the Inuleae s. lat. (Asteraceae)

    Author : Pia Eldenäs; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biology; Biologi; Plant Systematics; växtsystematik;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns phylogenetic problems in the tribe Inuleae s. lat. (Asteraceae). The genus Perralderia is revised. READ MORE
