  1. 1. Analysis of the Performance of Different V2F Turbulence Models in a Stator Vane Passage Flow

    Author : Andreas Sveningsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; heat transfer; RANS; realizability; V2F; stator flow;

    Abstract : When designing the cooling system of modern gas turbines it is important to be able to predict the heat transfer from the hot gas to the walls surrounding the gas path. One flow feature making this rather complicated is the presence of secondary, three-dimensional flow structures, often referred to as horse shoe vortices, which greatly enhance the rate of heat transfer to the endwall, especially in the leading edge region. 2. 2. Turbulence Transport Modelling in Gas Turbine Related Applications

    Author : Andreas Sveningsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; RANS; secondary flow; realizability; V2F; transition;

    Abstract : Computational fluid dynamics is a cornerstone in gas turbine engine design. It is used to optimize shapes of turbine and compressor airfoils, to predict heat transfer to gas turbine hot parts, to reduce the amount of pollutants that form when fuel is burnt, to reduce gas turbine noise and so on. Abstract : To enhance the performance of gas turbine engines, high top-cycle temperatures are desired. However, the temperature is limited by current materials. READ MORE

  4. 4. Numerical and Experimental Investigations of Design Parameters Defining Gas Turbine Nozzle Guide Vane Endwall Heat Transfer

    Author : Frank G. Rubensdörffer; Torsten Fransson; Albin Bölcs; KTH; []

    Abstract : The primary requirements for a modern industrial gas turbine consist of a continuous trend of an increasing efficiency combined with very low emissions in a robust, cost-effective manner. To fulfil these tasks a high turbine inlet temperature together with advanced dry low NOX combustion chambers are employed. READ MORE

  5. 5. Computational Analysis of Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow with Relevance for IC-Engine Cooling

    Author : Sassan Etemad; Värmeöverföring; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Termisk teknik; termodynamik; turbulence models; Heat transfer; curved duct; secondary flow; IC-engine cooling; Gases; Thermal engineering; applied thermodynamics; Teknik; Technological sciences; plasma; Gaser; fluiddynamik; plasmas; fluid dynamics;

    Abstract : Modern IC-engines produce more power per displaced volume and operate at higher combustion pressures and temperatures. In addition, engine structure materials such as aluminium and magnesium alloys, which are more sensitive to thermal loads, are more commonly used. READ MORE
