  1. 6. On large strain theories in sheet metal forming : general theories and numerical considerations with particular emphasis on strain analysis, non-conservative loading and plastic anisotropy

    Author : Bo Ekmark; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Manufacturing Systems Engineering; Produktionsutveckling;

    Abstract : The fundamentals of continuum mechanics in large strain problems are treated and analysed. Special emphasis is directed to strain analysis in large deformation problems and a comparison between the different types of strain terms is made. READ MORE

  2. 7. Strain echocardiography in the critically ill patient : Studies in patients with septic shock and subarachnoid haemorrhage

    Author : Keti Dalla; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Strain echocardiography in ICU patients; Left ventricle; Right ventricle; Septic shock; Subarachnoid haemorrhage; Norepinephrine;

    Abstract : In this thesis, strain echocardiography by two-dimensional speckle tracking imaging (2D-STI), was used for the evaluation of left ventricular (LV) and right ventricular (RV) function in critically ill patients with septic shock and subarachnoid haemorrhage. The aims were to: 1) investigate the value of strain echocardiography for the early detection of LV and RV dysfunction not diagnosed with conventional echocardiography in severe sepsis and septic shock, 2) to study the effects of norepinephrine on RV systolic function and pulmonary haemodynamics in patients with norepinephrine-dependent septic shock 3) evaluate the use of strain echocardiography for detection of myocardial injury in patients with subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH) and 4) study the impact of general anaesthesia and positive pressure ventilation (PPV) on RV and LV myocardial longitudinal strain. 3. 8. Experimental Studies of Deformation Structures in Stainless Steels using EBSD

    Author : Karin Yvell; Annika Borgenstam; Peter Hedström; Göran Engberg; Johan Moverare; Högskolan Dalarna; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; EBSD; Austenitic stainless steels; Duplex stainless steel; In situ tensile test; Grain boundaries; Grain rotation; Grain size distribution; Texture; Strain hardening; Structure-property relationship; High strain rate; Wire rod rolling; Roll forming; Steel Forming and Surface Engineering; Stålformning och ytteknik;

    Abstract : In this thesis, the focus has been the study of deformation structures in stainless steels by using electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD). Via increased knowledge of the evolution of the substructure during deformation, the design and control of the manufacturing process can be improved. READ MORE

  4. 9. Conversion of xylan into value-added products

    Author : Reza Faryar; Bioteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; xylooligosaccharides; biosurfactant; prebiotic; xylan-based film; Lactobacillus brevis;

    Abstract : Today’s high demand on finding sustainable energy sources, replacing petroleum-based products and the needfor healthier food alternatives have forced us to search for natural recoverable resources and explore their manyhidden applications. One such resource is xylan, which has gained much attention as possible raw material forvarious exploitations. READ MORE

  5. 10. Strain-assisted corrosion cracking and growth rate inhibitors

    Author : Andrey P Jivkov; Mekanik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; vacuum technology; vibration and acoustic engineering; Maskinteknik; hydraulik; vakuumteknik; vibrationer; akustik; materialteknik; Mechanical engineering; Material technology; Materiallära; Stress intensity factor; Inhomogeneous materials; Crack evolution; Stress corrosion cracking; Moving boundary; hydraulics;

    Abstract : A model for evolution of cracks as a result of strain-assisted corrosion is presented. The considered cracks possess a realistic geometry, where the tip region is an integral part of the crack surface instead of being a singular point. This geometry is either implicitly defined or is a consequence of crack nucleation from surface irregularities. READ MORE
