    Author : Kimberly Dick Thelander; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Natural science; III-V Semiconductor Materials; Fysik; Kondenserade materiens egenskaper:struktur; phase equilibria; crystallography; thermal and mechanical properties; Condensed matter:stucture; egenskaper termiska och mekaniska ; kristallografi; fasjämvikt; Naturvetenskap; Physics; Nanowires; Vapour Phase Epitaxy; Semiconductory physics; Halvledarfysik;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the epitaxial growth of III-V semiconductor nanowires using Au seed particles, and the design of more complex three-dimensional branched structures from these wires. Growth was performed by metallorganic vapour phase epitaxy, in which precursor molecules for the semiconductor material components are introduced in a low-pressure vapour. READ MORE

  3. 3. CO2 separation using ionic liquid-based absorbents : thermodynamics and kinetics

    Author : Yifeng Chen; Xiaoyan Ji; Xiaohua Lu; Marcus Öhman; Congmin Wang; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Ionic liquids; carbon dioxide; thermodynamics; kinetics; Energiteknik; Energy Engineering;

    Abstract : Ionic liquids (ILs) have shown great potential to be used as absorbents for CO2 separation owing to their unique properties such as immeasurably low vapour pressure, high thermal stability, high CO2 affinity, and tunable structure. A huge amount of researches have been carried out, and most of them focused on developing novel ILs for CO2 separation. READ MORE

  4. 4. Microcalorimetric methods for direct measurement of solubility and solvent activity

    Author : Dennis Berling; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; enthalpy of solution; solubility; solvent fugacity; solvent activity; Isothermal calorimetry; vapour pressure; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : New calorimetric methods for direct measurement of solubility and solvent activity are presented. The classical role of calorimetry for measurements of enthalpic parameters is abandoned and the technique is instead used for assessing thermodynamic quantities related to the chemical potential of a substance in a solution. Abstract : Semiconductor nanowires are studied by using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) based methods in this work. In the first section, the growth mechanism of gallium arsenide nanowires grown by chemical beam epitaxy is investigated. The nanowires are epitaxially grown from a gallium arsenide substrate by using gold seed particles as catalysts. READ MORE
