  1. 1. Load Modelling for Fatigue Assessment of Vehicles - a Statistical Approach

    Author : Magnus Karlsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fatigue; customer correlation; road load modelling; design of experiments; vehicle independent load models; lateral loads; road load modelling;

    Abstract : A way of modelling loads in customer usage for fatigue life considerations of vehicles is discussed. The starting point is lateral vehicle loads acting on trucks. Customer usage is described by using road classification. READ MORE

  2. 2. Inverse Identification of Dynamic Wheel-rail Contact Forces

    Author : Hamed Ronasi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; inverse problems; sensitivity; optimization; regularization; railway mechanics; input estimation; load identification;

    Abstract : Accurate evaluation of contact forces between wheel and rail is essential in the assessmentof vehicle performance and to predict consequences of dynamic vehicle-track interaction.As the contact forces can not be measured directly in the field, one common approachis to measure the strain or acceleration at various positions on a wheel or wheel axle. 3. 3. Towards Model-Based Condition Monitoring of Railway Switches and Crossings

    Author : Marko Milosevic; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sleeper void; Switches crossings; condition indicators; embedded sleeper accelerometer; multi-body simulations; dynamic vehicle–track interaction; MBS; S C; wheel–rail contact forces; condition monitoring; crossing rail geometry; displacement reconstruction.; model calibration;

    Abstract : Railway switches and crossings (S&C, turnouts) connect different track sections and create a railway network by allowing for trains to change between tracks. This functionality comes at a cost as the load-inducing rail discontinuities in the switch and crossing panels cause much higher degradation rates for S&C compared to regular plain line track. 4. 4. On modally distributed damping in heavy vehicles

    Author : Peter Holen; Annika Stensson Trigell; Zbigniew Lozia; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; damping; modal damping; chassis suspension; heavy vehicle; attachment compliance; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates passive damping system performance in heavy vehicles through analytical expressions, simulations with different vehicle models as well as through experimental evaluation in a tractor semi trailer combination. The objective is to study what levels of chassis suspension damping that are desirable for different vehicle modes and how this may be achieved with passive damping systems. READ MORE

  5. 5. Look-ahead Control of Heavy Vehicles

    Author : Erik Hellström; Lars Nielsen; Jan Åslund; Lino Guzzella; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; automotive control; dynamic programming; predictive control; fuel-optimal control; long haulage truck; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP; Information technology; Informationsteknik; Automatic control; Reglerteknik;

    Abstract : Trucks are responsible for the major part of inland freight and so, they are a backbone of the modern economy but they are also a large consumer of energy. In this context, a dominating vehicle is a truck with heavy load on a long trip. READ MORE
