6. Hyaluronan and the receptor CD 44 in the heart and vessels : a study in normal and pathological conditions
Abstract : Tissues are not solely composed of cells. The extracellular matrix is important for the cell well-being and cell-cell communication. The glycosaminoglycan hyaluronan (HYA) is a widely distributed extracellular matrix (ECM) component. READ MORE

7. On cardiovascular responses to hypovolemic circulatory stress. An experimental study in man
Abstract : Aged subjects have a decreased tolerance to hypovolemia, which could contribute to their increased cardiovascular morbidity. One possible etiological factor might be an age-related reduction in the efficiency of the baroreceptor reflex axis. READ MORE

8. Anaesthetics and the blood vessel wall. Actions of propofol and sevoflurane on sympathetic and endothelial control of smooth muscle function
Abstract : The anaesthetics we use today dose-dependently decrease the mean arterial pressure partly due to direct or indirect effects on the blood vessels. In the present thesis human omental arteries and veins and rat femoral arteries were investigated in vitro concerning the effects of the intravenous anaesthetic propofol and the volatile anaesthetic sevoflurane on the function of the perivascular sympathetic nerves and the endothelial cells. 9. Interventions for portal hypertension in patients with portal vein occlusion and possible effects of a stent-graft on hepatic circulation
Abstract : Symptomatic portal hypertension (PH), is often treated by transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS). Patients with PH, caused by prehepatic portal vein occlusion, require recanalization with stent or stent-graft often followed by additional TIPS. READ MORE

10. Retinal Vein Occlusion A clinical study of electrophysiology, certain prognostic factors and treatment
Abstract : The influence of the factor V Leiden mutation on the development of neovascular complications in central retinal vein occlusion was studied. The presence of the mutation was found to enhance the risk of developing neovascular complications almost threefold compared to in patients without the mutation. READ MORE
