  1. 1. Jet Ventilation for Airway Surgery : The Influence of Mode and Frequency on Ventilation Efficacy

    Author : Robert Sütterlin; Peter Frykholm; Anders Larsson; Ullman Johan; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; jet ventilation; airway obstruction; tracheal stenosis; HFJV; SHFJV; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care;

    Abstract : In surgery for airway obstruction, the anesthetist and the ear-nose-throat surgeon share the approach to the airway and jet ventilation (JV) is a mutually convenient ventilation technique for both parties. As a consequence of the open system jet ventilation is applied in, bedside measurements of lung volumes are cumbersome to perform and thus, there is a lack of studies comparing different modes of JV or investigating the influence of ventilator settings on lung volumes and gas exchange. 2. 2. Natural Ventilation and Air Infiltration in Large Single‑Zone Buildings : Measurements and Modelling with Reference to Historical Churches

    Author : Abolfazl Hayati; Magnus Mattsson; Mats Sandberg; Jens Fransson; Guilherme Carrilho da Graça; Högskolan i Gävle; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Natural ventilation; Airing; Air infiltration; Single-sided ventilation; Cross flow; Large single zones; Historical Churches; Model evaluation optimization; Field measurements; Wind tunnel; Indoor climate and Energy simulation; IDA-ICE; Tracer gas technique; Pressurization test.; Naturlig ventilation; Vädring; Luftinfiltration; Ensidig ventilation; Tvärdrag; Höga en-zonsbyggnader; Kulturhistoriska kyrkor; Modellutvärdering optimering; Fältmätningar; Vindtunnel; Inomhusklimat och energisimulering; IDA-ICE; Spårgas teknik; Trycksättningstest.; Hållbar stadsutveckling; Sustainable Urban Development;

    Abstract : Natural ventilation is the dominating ventilation process in ancient buildings like churches, and also in most domestic buildings in Sweden and in the rest of the world. These buildings are naturally ventilated via air infiltration and airing. READ MORE

  3. 3. Potential of Ventilation Radiators : Performance evaluation by numerical, analytical and experimental means

    Author : Jonn Are Myhren; Sture Holmberg; Per Olaf Tjelflaat; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Ventilation radiator; thermal comfort; exhaust ventilation; CFD; energy saving; convection fin; low temperature heating; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik;

    Abstract : Energy consumption for heating and ventilation of buildings is still in 2011considered far too high, but there are many ways to save energy and construct lowenergy buildings that have not been fully utilised. This doctoral thesis has focused onone of these - low temperature heating systems. READ MORE

  4. 4. Minimal volume ventilation in lung injury : With special reference to apnea and buffer treatment

    Author : Staffan Höstman; Anders Larsson; Hans Hjelmqvist; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; VILI; THAM; buffers; apneic oxygenation; respiratory acidosis; hypercapnia; low volume ventilation; mechanical ventilation; ultra-protective ventilation; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care;

    Abstract : A fairly large portion of patients receiving surgical or intensive care will need mechanical ventilation at some point. The potential ventilator-induced lung injury (VILI) is thus of interest. One of the main causal factors in VILI is the cyclic energy shifts, i.e. READ MORE

  5. 5. Chemical reactions in ventilation systems : Ozonolysis of monoterpenes

    Author : Jerker Fick; Barbro Andersson; Charles Weschler; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmental chemistry; Monoterpene; Ozone; OH Radical; Ozonolysis; Ventilation; Potassium Iodide; Experimental Design; Heat Exchanger; Miljökemi; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Abstract : Chemicals in indoor air, either emitted from a source or from a reaction, have been suggested to cause ill health in buildings. However, no clear correlations between exposure and health effects have been made. In this thesis we studied the reaction between monoterpenes, a group of biogenic unsaturated C10 hydrocarbons, and ozone. READ MORE
