16. Oxygen formation in the chlorate process and preparation and deactivation of ozone selective anodes
Abstract : This thesis presents experimental studies concerning two differ-ent electrolytic processes. One part deals with the electrochemicalformation of ozone and focuses on the preparation and deactiva-tion of a highly ozone-selective metal oxide anode (NATO - nickeland antimony doped tin oxide). 17. Efficiency and Selectivity in the Chlorate Process
Abstract : This licentiate thesis presents experimental studies concerning two parts of the electrochemical cell in the chlorate process: a cathode and an anode.Newly synthesized MnOx electrodes were investigated for the cathodic reaction, hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in the chlorate process. 18. Liquid Membrane Techniques for Trace Metal Analysis and Speciation in Environmental and Biological Matrices
Abstract : In this thesis, liquid-membrane-based methods for the analysis of trace metal species in samples of environmental and biological origin were developed. By incorporating extracting reagents in the membrane liquid, trace metal ions were selectively separated from humic-rich natural waters and urine samples, prior to their determination using various instrumental techniques. 19. The Regulation of Global SOx Emissions from Ships: IMO proceedings 1988-2008
Abstract : MARPOL Annex VI regulates air pollution from international shipping. Emissions of sulphur oxides (SOx) are regulated through a global limit for the sulphur content of bunker fuels (referred to as a global cap) as well as a stricter limit in particularly sensitive areas, referred to as SOx Emission Control Areas (SECAs).
