1. Attenuation of hand-held machine vibrations. Application of non-linear tuned vibration absorber
Abstract : Vibration injury in the hand-arm system from vibrating hand-held machines is one of the most common occupational health injuries and causes severe and often chronic nerve and vascular injuries to the operator. The objective with this study is to contribute to reduce hand-arm vibration injuries, first by developing methods of redesigning machines that will lower their vibration level and second to study how high frequency vibrations (HFV) above 1250 Hz effect the finger tissue which are not included in the current standard for risk evaluation. 2. Railway Track Stiffness : Dynamic Measurements and Evaluation for Efficient Maintenance
Abstract : Railway track stiffness (vertical track load divided by track deflection) is a basic parameter oftrack design which influences the bearing capacity, the dynamic behaviour of passing vehiclesand, in particular, track geometry quality and the life of track components. Track stiffness is abroad topic and in this thesis some aspects are treated comprehensively. READ MORE

3. Resonator sensor technique for medical use : an intraocular pressure measurement system
Abstract : In the work of this doctoral dissertation a new resonator sensor technique, first presented in 1989, has been further developed and evaluated with focus on technical characteristics and applications within the medical field. In a first part a catheter-type tactile sensor using the resonator sensor technique was evaluated in a silicone model and applied to human prostate in vitro. READ MORE

4. Vibration-induced neuropathy in the hand
Abstract : The aim of this study was to investigate clinical, pathophysiological and structural aspects of vibration-induced peripheral neuropathy since work with hand-held vibrating tools may lead to progressive neurological and vascular hand symptoms. Symptomatic vibration-exposed men were examined clinically and by neurography, tactilometry, and vibrometry and by measurement of temperature perception thresholds. READ MORE

5. Prediction of engine component loads using previous measurements
Abstract : Internal combustion engines are used in many applications. The same engine type may have different components mounted to it depending upon its use. These engine mounted components need to be designed against fatigue in order to withstand the engine vibrations. Measured engine vibrations are commonly used as input data for fatigue estimation.
