11. Strain-related structural and vibrational properties of group-III nitride layers and superlattices
Abstract : This PhD thesis is focused on strain-related phenomena in group-III nitride layers and heterostructures. Key issues in material properties as phonon mode behavior, structure and lattice parameters of AlN, InN and GaN, as well as of AlN/GaN superlattices are addressed in order to give answers to some open questions. 12. Low dimensional Zinc- and Copper Oxides and their Electronic, Vibrational and Photocatalytic Properties
Abstract : Pollution of water resources is a growing problem in the world and this has drawn the attention to photocatalysis, which is an emerging technology for water purification. In this thesis, low dimensional zinc oxide and copper oxides, which are promising photocatalytic materials, have been studied. READ MORE

13. Neutron spectroscopy studies of vibrational and diffusional dynamics in organometal halide and oxyhydride perovskites
Abstract : This thesis deals with inelastic and quasielastic neutron scattering studies on the dynamical properties of the organometal halide perovskite system MA1-xFAxPbI3 (MA = methylammonium; FA = formamidinium) and of the layered perovskite-type oxyhydride SrVO2H. These materials systems are of high interest for their excellent photovoltaic performance (MA1-xFAxPbI3) and hydride-ion conductivity (SrVO2H) and concomitant promise for various technological devices; however, the local structure and dynamics underpinning these materials properties remain unclear. 14. A vibrational spectroscopy study of the growth of silicate-1 films on noble metal surfaces
Abstract : The main objective of this thesis was to acquire a better understanding of the mechanisms involved in the preparation of Silicalite-1 films in general and on gold surfaces in particular. Molecular sieve films on gold surfaces were prepared using the seed film method. READ MORE

15. Ab initio modeling of xanthate adsorption on ZnS surfaces
Abstract : Modeling surface adsorption requires systems of hundreds of atoms. To model such systems at an ab initio level successfully, we need to avoid traditional quantum chemical methods. READ MORE
