  1. 6. Video Signal Processing: Compression Segmentation and Tracking

    Author : Andrew Backhouse; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : This thesis considers three separate research problems within the field of video processing.The first is concerned with segmenting an image, the second with tracking an object and the third with the communication of video across an unreliable network.Segmentation is an application-specific problem. 2. 7. Very low bitrate facial video coding : based on principal component analysis

    Author : Ulrik Söderström; Haibo Li; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Image processing; Video processing; Very low bitrate coding; Other electrical engineering; electronics and photonics; Övrig elektroteknik; elektronik och fotonik;

    Abstract : This thesis introduces a coding scheme for very low bitrate video coding through the aid of principal component analysis. Principal information of the facial mimic for a person can be extracted and stored in an Eigenspace. Entire video frames of this persons face can then be compressed with the Eigenspace to only a few projection coefficients. READ MORE

  3. 8. Depth Map Upscaling for Three-Dimensional Television : The Edge-Weighted Optimization Concept

    Author : Sebastian Schwarz; Mårten Sjöström; Atanas Gotchev; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; 3d video; 3DTV; video coding; capture; distribution; EWOC; depth map upscaling; time-of-flight;

    Abstract : With the recent comeback of three-dimensional (3D) movies to the cinemas, there have been increasing efforts to spread the commercial success of 3D to new markets. The possibility of a 3D experience at home, such as three-dimensional television (3DTV), has generated a great deal of interest within the research and standardization community. READ MORE

  4. 9. Multi-LSTM Acceleration and CNN Fault Tolerance

    Author : Stefano Ribes; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Compression; SVD; LSTMs; CNNs; Fault Tolerance; Machine Learning; FPGA; Roofline Model; HLS; Caffe;

    Abstract : This thesis addresses the following two problems related to the field of Machine Learning: the acceleration of multiple Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) models on FPGAs and the fault tolerance of compressed Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN). LSTMs represent an effective solution to capture long-term dependencies in sequential data, like sentences in Natural Language Processing applications, video frames in Scene Labeling tasks or temporal series in Time Series Forecasting. 5. 10. Gaining Depth : Time-of-Flight Sensor Fusion for Three-Dimensional Video Content Creation

    Author : Sebastian Schwarz; Mårten Sjöström; Roger Olsson; Reinhard Koch; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; 3D video; Time-of-Flight; depth map acquisition; optimization; 3DTV; ToF; upsampling; super-resolution; sensor fusion;

    Abstract : The successful revival of three-dimensional (3D) cinema has generated a great deal of interest in 3D video. However, contemporary eyewear-assisted displaying technologies are not well suited for the less restricted scenarios outside movie theaters. READ MORE
