1. Applications of Finite Element Simulation and Mixed Reality in Architecture and Built Environment
Abstract : This thesis presents applications in architecture and built environment that are based on the finite element method and mixed reality. The work consists of two main components: two projects presented in three papers. The first project (presented in Paper I) concerns an application in urban design, thus built environment on a larger scale. READ MORE

2. Computation of Autonomous Safety Maneuvers Using Segmentation and Optimization
Abstract : This thesis studies motion planning for future autonomous vehicles with main focus on passenger cars. By having automatic steering and braking together with information about the environment, such as other participants in the traffic or obstacles, it would be possible to perform autonomous maneuvers while taking limitations of the vehicle and road–tire interaction into account. 3. Mixed Substrate Computation. Sensor Based Artificial Cognition for Architectural Design and Modification
Abstract : A mutual relationship exists between activities and their physical environment. Change of circumstances in the built environment cause change of activities, and vice versa, change of activities cause changes of physical environment. READ MORE

4. The Euclidean traveling salesman problem with neighborhoods and a connecting fence
Abstract : An important class of problems in robotics deals with the planning of paths. In this thesis, we study this class of problems from an algorithmic point of view by considering cases where we have complete knowledge of the environment and each solution must ensure that a point-sized robot capable of moving continuously and turning arbitrarily accomplishes the following: (1) visits a given set of objects attached to an impenetrable simple polygon in the plane, and (2) travels along a path of minimum length over all the possible paths that visit the objects without crossing the polygon. 5. Improving routing in the global Internet
Abstract : Routing is an important part of the Internet and even though routing in the Internet has been investigated since Internet's creation, there are still open issues. Routing protocols have been evolved since the birth of Internet. Currently the Border Gateway Protocol(BGP) is the de-facto standard inter domain routing protocol on the Internet. READ MORE
