26. Impact of Genetic Variants in Inosine Triphosphate Pyrophosphatase and Interferon-λ4 on Natural History, Treatment Response and Ribavirin Pharmacology in Hepatitis C Virus Infection
Abstract : Hepatitis C virus (HCV) impacts on global health with around 70 million chronically infected worldwide. The infection increases the risk of cirrhosis and primary liver cancer. The treatment until 2013 has been based on interferon-α and ribavirin, but is now replaced by direct acting antivirals. READ MORE

30. Nucleic acid-based detection and characterization of hepatitis C virus
Abstract : Nucleic acid-based methods were developed to detect and characterize the HCV genome in immunocompetent and immunodeficient patents of whom some were IFN-a treated. HCV RNA was found in most sera (95%), livers (97%) and PBMC (100%) of patients with confirmed chronic hepatitis, but also in sera (21%) of patients with indeterminate confirmatory antibody test, especially those with c22 antigen reactivity.
