  1. 1. Simulations of the Dynamics of Fibre Suspension Flows

    Author : Stefan B Lindström; Tetsu Uesaka; Myat Htun; Fritz Bark; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fibre; fibre suspension; simulation; paper; papermaking; forming; fibre orientation distribution; fibre flexibility; viscosity; first normal stress difference; fluid flow; simple shear flow; two-way coupling; three-dimensional; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik; Engineering physics; Teknisk fysik;

    Abstract : A new model for simulating non-Brownian flexible fibres suspended in a Newtonian fluid has been developed. Special attention has been given to include realistic flow conditions found in the industrial papermaking process in the key features of the model; it is the intention of the author to employ the model in simulations of the forming section of the paper machine in future studies. 2. 2. Modelling of Bingham Suspensional Flow : Influence of Viscosity and Particle Properties Applicable to Cementitious Materials

    Author : Annika Gram; Björn Lagerblad; Ulrich Diederichs; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Self-Compacting Concrete; SCC; Fresh concrete flow; Numerical simulation; Viscosity; Open channel flow;

    Abstract : Simulation of fresh concrete flow has spurged with the advent of Self-Compacting Concrete, SCC. The fresh concrete rheology must be compatible with the reinforced formwork geometry to ensure complete and reliable form filling with smooth concrete surfaces. READ MORE

  3. 3. Viscous Behaviour of Fibre-filled Liquids

    Author : Mina Djalili-Moghaddam; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; viscosity; geometry effects; short-range interactions; parallel plate; fibre suspension; normal force; cone and plate;

    Abstract : Process simulation of discontinuous fibre composites is of importance in automotive industries. The performance of a fibre composite part depends to a great extent on the fibre orientation pattern. READ MORE

  4. 4. Shaping of Food Microstructures

    Author : Lars Hamberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; food microstructure; flow; emulsion; carrageenan whey protein isolates; shaping; aggregate; gelatine; suspension; gel formation; particle; Fourier shape description; shape; shape measurements;

    Abstract : Shape, the shaping process and the functionality of shape for food microstructure are the focus of this thesis. Shape is one of the parameters that influences the microstructure functionality; hence microstructure shape optimisation is an interesting task in the development of new functional materials and processes, especially for food, in which structure-related texture is an essential part of the product. 5. 5. Rheological Properties of Microfibrillated Cellulose

    Author : Tobias Moberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; rheological properties; creep; Extensional viscosity; Microfibrillated cellulose; suspensions; ;

    Abstract : Cellulose has for a long time been used by man. It is renewable and an easily recyclable resource. Mostly it has been used in either its native form as wood or in the form of fibres. READ MORE
