  1. 1. Efficient real-time visibility testing

    Author : Erik Sintorn; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; soft shadows; volumetric shadows; deep shadow-maps; order-independent transparency; hair; shadows; rendering; visibility;

    Abstract : Visibility testing is an integral part of many computer graphics algorithms. For example, algorithms that generate images with shadows, ambient occlusion, environment lighting or transparency all require an efficient means of establishing the visibility between two or more points in a virtual scene. 2. 2. Fast and High-Quality Visibility Determination

    Author : Rasmus Barringer; Institutionen för datavetenskap; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; computer graphics; visibility; anti-aliasing; line sampling; ray tracing; rendering;

    Abstract : Computer generated imagery is vital to the entertainment industry in the production of games and films, for example. It is also increasingly important for visualization in design, architecture, engineering, and medicine, to name a few. Improvements to rendering techniques come from a combination of improved algorithms and more powerful hardware. READ MORE

  3. 3. Nothing more to see : Contestations of belonging and visibility in Russian media

    Author : Emil Edenborg; Nira Yuval-Davis; Statsvetenskapliga institutionen; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; belonging; visibility; media; sexuality; gender; nationalism; Russia; Mediepolitik;

    Abstract : The purpose of this dissertation is to explore the role of visibility in the production and contestation of belonging to political communities. On the basis of an empirical enquiry of Russian media during the 2010s, a theoretical conceptualization of the relation between visibility and belonging is suggested, starting in the idea that what becomes visible to publics and how, and what is rendered invisible, are the objects of constant political regulation and contestation. 4. 4. High visibility six-photonentanglement

    Author : Magnus Rådmark; Mohamed Bourennane; Erik Sjöqvist; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Quantum information; entanglement; quantum physics; Physics; Fysik; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Entanglement is a key resource in many quantum information schemes andin the last years the research on multi-qubit entanglement has drawn lots ofattention. In this thesis the experimental generation and characterization ofmulti-qubit entanglement is presented. READ MORE

  5. 5. Health Data : Representation and (In)visibility

    Author : Pedro Sanches; Magnus Boman; Catherine Mulligan; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Health data requires context to be understood. I show how, by examining two areas: self-surveillance, with a focus on representation of bodily data, and mass-surveillance, with a focus on representing populations. READ MORE
