1. Characteristic properties of two-dimensional superconductors close to the phase transition in zero magnetic field
Abstract : The main focus of this thesis lies on the critical properties of twodimensional (2D) superconductors in zero magnetic field. Simulations based on variants of the 2D XY model are shown to give characteristic features close to the phase transition which agree qualitatively with experimental data. READ MORE

2. Energy-Centric Scheduling for Real-Time Systems
Abstract : Energy consumption is today an important design issue for all kinds of digital systems, and essential for the battery operated ones. An important fraction of this energy is dissipated on the processors running the application software. To reduce this energy consumption, one may, for instance, lower the processor clock frequency and supply voltage. READ MORE

3. Building Blocks for Low-Voltage Analog-to-Digital Interfaces
Abstract : In today’s system-on-chip (SoC) implementations, power consumption is a key performance specification. The proliferation of mobile communication devices and distributed wireless sensor networks has necessitated the development of power-efficient analog, radio-frequency (RF), and digital integrated circuits. 4. Characterization of Different Interface Types for HVDC Extruded Cable Applications
Abstract : In extruded HVDC cable systems a variety of interface types can be found, and the interfacial properties depend on the application within the system. Such applications can be joints, terminations or the cable itself and they will all have different material combinations and manufacturing methods. READ MORE

5. Energy Efficient Task Mapping and Resource Management on Multi-core Architectures
Abstract : Reducing energy consumption of parallel applications executing on chip multi- processors (CMPs) is important for green computing. Hardware vendors have been developing a variety of system features to support energy efficient computing, for example, integrating asymmetric core types on a single chip referred to as static asymmetry and supporting dynamic voltage and frequency scaling (DVFS) referred to as dynamic asymmetry.
