    Abstract : Glucose stimulation of insulin release is mediated by depolarisation of the pancreatic β-cells with accompanying entry of Ca2+ through voltage-dependent channels. An important feature of the glucose-induced depolarisation is its rhythmicity causing oscillations of the cytoplasmic Ca2+ concentration ([Ca2+]i), which trigger pulsatile release of insulin. 2. 2. Studies of individual pancreatic -cells : Electrophysiological analysis of rhythmic behaviour and development of new techniques

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Staffan Dryselius; Uppsala universitet.; [1999]

    Abstract : The insulin concentration in blood varies periodically, which is believed to prevent down-regulation of the hormone receptors. Loss of the regular insulin oscillations is considered to be an early sign of developing diabetes. READ MORE

  3. 3. Apoptosis And Excitotoxicity In The Death of Cultured And Grafted Dopaminergic Neurones

    University dissertation from Department of Physiological Sciences, Lund University

    Author : Gabriele Schierle; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [1999]

READ MORE

  4. 4. Signal Transduction of Glucagon Secretion

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Elaine Vieira; Uppsala universitet.; [2006]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell biology; secretion; glucagon; store-operated channels; calcium; diabetes; Cellbiologi; NATURAL SCIENCES Biology Cell and molecular biology Cell biology; NATURVETENSKAP Biologi Cell- och molekylärbiologi Cellbiologi;

    Abstract : Diabetes mellitus is a bihormonal disorder with hyperglycemia due to deficiency of insulin and hypersecretion of glucagon. To improve diabetes treatment it is important to clarify the signal transduction of glucagon secretion. READ MORE

  5. 5. Host-parasite interactions in the dissemination of Toxoplasma gondii

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Department of Molecular Biosciences, The Wenner-Gren Institute, Stockholm University

    Author : Sachie Kanatani; Stockholms universitet.; [2017]
