  1. 1. Determinants of intra-individual variation in adaptability to resistance training of different volumes

    Author : Daniel Hammarström; Stian Ellefsen; Bent R Rønnestad; Eva Blomstrand; Juha Hulmi; Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicin Teknik; Medicine Technology;

    Abstract : Systematic resistance training positively affects skeletal muscle mass and functional characteristics of the neuro-muscular system. By varying exercise variables such as training volume, the training can be individualized. READ MORE

  2. 2. Structure-Reactivity Correlations for Reactions of Palladium(II) and Platinum(IV) Complexes

    Author : Tiesheng Shi; Kemiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; thiol; l-methionine; maleic acid; carboxylic acid; thioether; platinum IV ; palladium II ; linear free energy relationship; volumes of activation; structure-reactivity correlation; reduction; substitution; equilibria; kinetics; mechanism; glutathione; Animal physiology; Djurfysiologi;

    Abstract : The kinetics and mechanism for substitution reactions on tetraaquapalladium(II) by an extended series of thioethers, a great number of carboxylic acids, and olefins have been studied by use of UV-VIS, stopped-flow, and high-pressure stopped-flow spectrophotometry and NMR spectroscopy. Second-order rate constants k and activation parameters (activation enthalpies, entropies, and volumes) for formation of monodentate 1:1 complexes have been determined. READ MORE

  3. 3. Ontogeny of perception of maternal and nosocomial stimuli in infants

    Author : Jakob Frie; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Preterm born infants in neonatal units experience unusual sensory inputs that can shape and nurture their developing brains differently from full-term healthy newborn infants. To improve the care of preterm infants and their neurodevelopmental outcomes, we need to understand how the brain functions at different developmental stages and implement this knowledge into clinical care and follow-up programs. 4. 4. Assessment of Function, Structure and Working Memory in Adolescents with a Recent Diagnosis of an Eating Disorder

    Author : Linda Solstrand Dahlberg; Helgi Schiöth; Samantha Brooks; Pleunie Hogenkamp; Lars Nyberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Eating disorders; anorexia nervosa; bulimia nervosa; eating disorders not otherwise specified; fmri; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap;

    Abstract : Body, weight and shape related obsessions and ruminations are characteristic traits of individuals with eating disorders (ED) that are found to predate the onset of the disorder. Individuals with chronic ED display altered neural activation in response to food stimuli, and are reported to have volumetric differences compared to healthy individuals, which is likely an effect of prolonged starvation. 5. 5. Investigations of Slag Properties and Reactions

    Author : Mikael Persson; Seshadri Seetharaman; Masanori Iwase; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Metallurgical process and manufacturing engineering; Metallurgisk process- och produktionsteknik;

    Abstract : The present dissertation describes the efforts directed towards the development of computational tools to support process modeling. This work is also a further development of the Thermoslag® software developed in the Division of Materials Process Science, KTH. READ MORE
