  1. 6. Leaching, filtration and displacement washing in a treatment process for MSW combustion fly ash - laboratory scale and plant studies

    Author : Magda Wilewska-Bien; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; washing; filtration; MSW; cyclone ash; : leaching; fly ash; MSWI ash;

    Abstract : Municipal Solid Waste combustion, as one of the waste management tools, starts to play an important role nowadays in heat and energy generation. However, MSW combustion leads to generation of other wastes - combustion residues, including ashes, which require a proper management. READ MORE

  2. 7. Accelerator-driven systems : safety and kinetics

    Author : Marcus Eriksson; Janne Wallenius; Hamid Aït Abderrrahim; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik;

    Abstract : The accelerator-driven system (ADS) is recognized as a promising system for the purpose of nuclear waste transmutation and minimization of spent fuel radiotoxicity. The primary cause for this derives from its accelerator-driven, sub-critical operating state, which introduces beneficial safety-related features allowing for application of cores employing fuel systems containing pure transuranics or minor actinides, thereby offering increased incineration rate of waste products and minimal deployment of advanced (and expensive) partitioning and transmutation technologies. 3. 8. ALD Buffer Layer Growth and Interface Formation on Cu(In,Ga)Se2 Solar Cell Absorbers

    Author : Jan Sterner; Lars Stolt; Roland Scheer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electronics; thin film; Cu In; Ga Se2; CIGS; chalcopyrite; ALD; sulfurization; buffer layer; XPS; UPS; electron spectroscopy; band alignment; atomic layer deposition; Elektronik; Electronics; Elektronik;

    Abstract : Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CIGS) thin film solar cells contain a thin layer of CdS. To avoid toxic heavy-metal-containing waste in the module production the development of a cadmium-free buffer layer is desirable. This thesis considers alternative Cd-free buffer materials deposited by Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD). READ MORE

  4. 9. Lean, Green, and Agile Design and Control of Pallet Systems

    Author : Maziar Mashaei; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Lean structure model.; Universal model; Handling and locating pallet system; Optimization model; Energy model;

    Abstract : Pallet based automated material handling systems are main devices to transport and locate various part types in flexible production plants.To fulfill production objectives and win in the competitive environment of mass customization, proper deign and control of handling and locating pallet systems have been highly concerned. 5. 10. Proliferation resistances of Generation IV recycling facilities for nuclear fuel

    Author : Matilda Åberg Lindell; Sophie Grape; Ane Håkansson; Staffan Jacobsson Svärd; Roland Carchon; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; safeguards; proliferation resistance; Generation IV; reprocessing; Fysik med inriktning mot tillämpad kärnfysik; Physics with specialization in Applied Nuclear Physics;

    Abstract : The effects of global warming raise demands for reduced CO2 emissions, whereas at the same time the world’s need for energy increases. With the aim to resolve some of the difficulties facing today’s nuclear power, striving for safety, sustainability and waste minimization, a new generation of nuclear energy systems is being pursued: Generation IV.
