  1. 6. Wood Templated Organic Electronics

    Author : Van Chinh Tran; Isak Engquist; Magnus Berggren; Renee Kroon; Gustav Nyström; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organic electronics; Wood; Lignin; Supercapacitor; Battery; Organic electrochemical transistor OECT ;

    Abstract : In today’s digital era, electronics are integral to most activities in our daily lives, offering swift and global communication, powerful data processing tools, and advanced sensor devices. However, there are drawbacks to the exponentially growing demand for electronics, such as the depletion of fossil resources, and the complexities surrounding recycling electronic waste (E-waste). 2. 7. Concentrate or dilute contaminants? : Strategies for Swedish wood waste

    Author : Joakim Krook; Anders Mårtensson; Stefan Anderberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Management strategies; environmental aspects; heavy metals; separation; regulation; market interactions; actors; avfall; miljö; sortering; föroreningar; tungmetaller; impregnerat trä; styrmedel; kundkrav; lagstiftning; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis aims to assess the environmental consequences of management strategies for wood waste in Sweden. There is a special focus on separation strategies and in what way such measures influence environmental aspects such as the presence of heavy metals in the waste. READ MORE

    Abstract : The effects of greenhouse gas net emissions on global warming, stricter legislation on waste handling, and the pursuit of ever cheaper heat- and power production are all important factors driving the introduction of complex fuels in incineration plants. However - without fundamental knowledge regarding ash transformation, corrosion control, and materials selection – this introduction of potentially economically and environmentally beneficial fuels, might instead cause economic loss and environmentally adverse effects. 4. 9. Distribution and chemical association of trace elements in incinerator residues and mining waste from a leaching perspective

    Author : Naeem Saqib; Mattias Bäckström; Stefan Karlsson; William Mayes; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; trace elements; partitioning; fly ash; bottom ash; speciation; association; risk assessment; wood waste; incineration; mining waste; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : Incineration is a mainstream strategy for solid waste management in Sweden and all over the world. Improved knowledge and understanding about the distribution of trace elements (in ashes) during incineration, and how trace element partitioning respond to the changes in waste composition, are important in terms of combustion process optimization and plant efficiency. 5. 10. Fate of Cu, Cr, As and some other trace elements during combustion of recovered waste fuels

    Author : Karin Lundholm; Anders Nordin; Britt-Marie Steenari; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; combustion; chemical equilibrium model calculations; trace elements; impregnated wood; waste; thermodynamic data; Cu; Cr; As; Other chemistry; Övrig kemi;

    Abstract : The increased use of biomass and recovered waste fuels in favor of fossil fuels for heat and power production is an important step towards a sustainable future. Combustion of waste fuels also offers several advantages over traditional landfilling, such as substantial volume reduction, detoxification of pathological wastes, and reduction of toxic leaches and greenhouse gas (methane) formation from landfills.
