  1. 1. Passive sampling for monitoring of inorganic pollutants in water

    Author : Jesper Knutsson; [2013]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; heavy metals; urban run-off; WFD; pollutant monitoring; passive samplers; natural water; speciation; waste water;

    Abstract : As new environmental management policies for watersheds are implemented, there has been a growing interest for new monitoring alternatives. Traditionally grab sampling has been the method of choice for monitoring purposes, but may not be adequate or economically viable, to meet the requirements of the new policies. READ MORE

  2. 2. Health hazards associated with dissemination of bacterial strains in waste water recycling

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Microbiology and Tumor Biology Center (MTC)

    Author : Mokhlasur Rahman; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2005]

    Abstract : Treated waste effluents with low levels of chemical and microbiological contents are used for domestic, industrial, agricultural and aquacultural purposes worldwide, and it is estimated that one tenth or more of the world’s population consume food produced through irrigation with wastewater. Treated hospital waste effluents may contain pathogenic and drug resistant bacteria, which constitutes the most dangerous single risk factor for dissemination of pathogenic and drug resistant organisms to the environment. 5. 5. Strategy for Monitoring Organic Pollutants in Waste Water with Focus on Improved Sample Preparation

    University dissertation from Department of Analytical Chemistry, Lund University

    Author : Staffan Bergström; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2006]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Miljökemi; Environmental chemistry; Analytisk kemi; Analytical chemistry; Membrane extraction; Sample preparation; Organic pollutants; Monitoring strategy; Landfill leachate;

    Abstract : Strategy and methodology is presented for the analysis of organic pollutants, with the purpose of evaluating treatment procedures for landfill leachate. Today, many investigations of treatment procedures are focusing on the measurement of water quality parameters such as chemical and biochemical oxygen demand, (COD and BOD), and total organic carbon, (TOC) when assessing the organic compounds in waste waters.
