  1. 1. Performance Assessment of Wastewater Treatment Plants : Multi-Objective Analysis Using Plant-Wide Models

    Author : MAGNUS ARNELL; Ulf Jeppsson; Bengt Carlsson; Hans Bertil Wittgren; Diego Rosso; Industriell elektroteknik och automation; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; benchmarking; BSM; samrötning; energieffektivitet; växthusgasutsläpp; livscykelanalys; matematisk modellering; avloppsvattenrening; benchmarking; BSM; codigestion; energy efficiency; greenhouse gases; life cycle assessment; mathematical modelling; wastewater treatment; benchmarking;

    Abstract : As the knowledge about anthropogenic impacts of climate change has grown, the awareness of the contributions from treatment of wastewater has widened the scope for wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). Not only shall ever stricter effluent constraints be met, but also energy efficiency be increased, greenhouse gases mitigated and resources recovered. READ MORE

  2. 2. Fighting flameless fires : Initiating and extinguishing self-sustainedsmoldering fires in wood pellets

    Abstract : Smoldering fires represent domestic, environmental and industrial hazards. This flameless form of combustion is more easily initiated than flaming, and is also more persistent and difficult to extinguish. The growing demand for non-fossil fuels has increased the use of solid biofuels such as biomass. READ MORE

  3. 3. Water Governance : Policy, Politics and Regulation in Honduras

    Author : Patricia Phumpiu; Jan-Erik Gustafsson; Cecilia Scharp; Jose Esteban Castro; KTH; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Water Governance; Honduras; Institutions; Policy; Politics; Regulatory Governance; Regulatory State; Water engineering; Vattenteknik;

    Abstract : Water governance exerts an impact on the socio-politic life of Honduras. For instance, the new legal framework changes institutions. New water organisations are created, and new processes and proceedings are proposed. READ MORE

  4. 4. Assessment of stormwater and snowmelt quality based on water management priorities and the consequent water quality parameters

    Author : Helen Galfi; Maria Viklander; Jiri Marsalek; Helene Österlund; Jon M. Hathaway; Luleå tekniska universitet; []

    Abstract : Stormwater and snowmelt pollution contributes to degradation of quality of the receiving waters. For assessing such impacts, it is effective to focus on specific causes of degradation, as done in this study of the quality of stormwater and snowmelt discharges into the receiving waters serving for supply of raw drinking water and water-based recreation. 5. 5. Land-Sea Interactions in the Coastal-Marine System of the Baltic Sea under Hydro-Climatic Variability

    Author : Yuanying Chen; Vladimir Cvetkovic; Carmen Prieto; Marco Marani; KTH; []

    Abstract : This thesis investigates a few important component processes for understanding and quantifying eutrophication in the Baltic Sea, that include characterization of nutrient loadings from land, water flow in the sea under changing climate conditions and transport of solutes originating from different locations along the coast. Furthermore, this study aims to improve our understanding on how processes from land (the nutrient loading conditions) and the sea (transport dynamics and water quality) couple to determine the fate of nutrients in the sea and the water quality in a selected localized coastal area, the Himmerfjärden Bay.
