  1. 16. Aquaporins in Infection and Inflammation

    Author : Angelika Holm; Elena Vikström; Karl-Eric Magnusson; Vesa Loitto; Jonas Wetterö; Mikael Rhen; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The ability of eukaryotic cells to change their shape and to migrate directionally is highly dependent on active volume regulation in cells building up tissues as well as in individual cells. Transmembrane fluxes of water via specialized water channels, called aquaporins (AQPs), facilitate the changes of volume and shape, which additionally require a complex interplay between the plasma membrane and the cytoskeleton. 2. 17. Development and Mechanistic Studies of Molecularly Defined Water Oxidation Catalysts : Catalysts for a Green and Sustainable Future

    Author : Markus Kärkäs; Björn Åkermark; Jean-François Nierengarten; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; artificial photosynthesis; water oxidation; photochemistry; electrochemistry; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the development of complexes that are active catalysts for H2O oxidation. Promoting proton-coupled electron transfer has been a highly important feature in the development of these catalysts. READ MORE

  3. 18. A framework and theory for cyber security assessments

    Author : Teodor Sommestad; Mathias Ekstedt; Ruth Breu; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; cyber security; security assessment; vulnerability assessment; architecture modeling; enterprise architecture;

    Abstract : Information technology (IT) is critical and valuable to our society. An important type of IT system is Supervisor Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. These systems are used to control and monitor physical industrial processes like electrical power supply, water supply and railroad transport. READ MORE

  4. 19. Novel methods to synthesize aliphatic polyesters of vivid architectures

    Author : Rajiv Srivastava; Ann-Christine Albertsson; Ronnie Palmgren; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Polyesters; 1; 5-dioxepan-2-one; Caprolactone; Sn Oct 2; Enzyme; Lipase-CA; Ring-Opening Polymerization; Architecture; Tissue Engineering; Polymer chemistry; Polymerkemi;

    Abstract : Cross-linked films of ε-caprolactone (CL) and 1,5-dioxepan-2-one (DXO) having various mole fractions of monomers and different cross-link densities were prepared using 2,2’-bis-(-caprolactone-4-yl) propane (BCP) as cross-linking agent and Sn(Oct)2 as catalyst. Reaction parameters were examined to optimize the film-forming conditions. READ MORE

  5. 20. Boreal land surface water and heat balance : Modelling soil-snow-vegetation-atmosphere behaviour

    Author : David Gustafsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; soil; snow; land surface heat exchange; forest; arable land; eddy-correlation; Civil engineering and architecture; Samhällsbyggnadsteknik och arkitektur;

    Abstract : The water and heat exchange in thesoil-snow-vegetation-atmosphere system was studied in order toimprove the quantitative knowledge of land surface processes.In this study, numerical simulation models and availabledatasets representing arable land, sub-alpine snowpack, andboreal forest were evaluated at both diurnal and seasonaltimescales.
