16. Water in roads: Flow paths and pollutant spread
Abstract : For better road construction and maintenance while minimising damage to the environment and groundwater, it is essential to monitor and model hydrological impacts on roads and consider pollution of groundwater. Water content in unbound material in road layers changes continuously and water flow usually occurs along pathways that are the main corridors for pollutant spread to groundwater. READ MORE

17. Traffic-related pollutants in urban snow : Concentrations, size fractionation, and release with snowmelt
Abstract : In urban areas with seasonal snow, traffic-related pollutants such as solid particles, metals, chloride, organic pollutants, and microplastics (MPs) can be temporarily stored in snowbanks along roads and streets. When the snow melts, it releases the accumulated pollutants and the resulting snowmelt with diverse pollutants may partly infiltrate into the ground, or enter storm sewers and eventually be discharged into, and impact on, the receiving waters. 18. Dynamics of water pollution control : A regional evaluation
Abstract : The 1970's saw a strong governmental backing of measures taken to improve surface water quality by reducing point-source emissions in Sweden. The aim of this thesis primarily was to evaluate the cost effectiveness of governmental strategies implemented to improve surface water quality and to study the relationship between policies adopted and current knowledge about different sources of pollution. 19. Nonpoint source water pollution management : Monitoring, assessment and wetland treatment
Abstract : The management of nonpoint (diffuse) sources of-water pollution has received increased attention during the past decade. New techniques that aid in the identification and assessment of these diffuse sources can increase the chances for success of nonpoint source control efforts. READ MORE

20. Mitigating Microplastics Pollution in Urban Water Systems : Flow, actors, and control measures
Abstract : Water pollution has long been considered a challenge in urban areas. Urban wastewater and stormwater act as transport pathways for pollutants from urban areas to receiving waters. Microplastics are a pollution problem of growing concern. READ MORE
