  1. 21. Climate change and urban drainage : future precipitation and hydraulic impact

    Author : Mats Olofsson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Abstract : Increasing global mean temperature influences the hydrologic cycle. In the 21st century, hydrologic change featuring more heavy precipitation events is very likely according to the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, IPCC. This change will have a great impact on urban environments and infrastructures. READ MORE

  2. 22. Biofiltration technologies for stormwater quality treatment

    Author : Godecke-Tobias Blecken; Jean-Luc Bertrand-Krajewski; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Abstract : Due to high runoff volumes and peak flows, and significant contamination with (inter alia) sediment, metals, nutrients, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and salt, urban stormwater is a major cause of degradation of urban water ways. Since current urban drainage systems, which heavily rely on piped sewer networks, may not be sustainable, attempts are being made to develop and refine sustainable urban drainage solutions, notably in Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) and Low Impact Development (LID) concepts. 3. 23. Urban water management : Modelling, simulation and control of the activated sludge process

    Author : Mats Ekman; Bengt Carlsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Automatic Control; Reglerteknik;

    Abstract : During the last few decades, wastewater treatment processes in urban water management have become more and more efficient and complex. Several factors such as urbanization, stricter legislations on effluent quality, economics, increased knowledge of the involved biological, chemical and physical processes as well as technical achievements have been important incentives for the development of more efficient procedures for wastewater treatment plants. 4. 24. Biofiltration of odorous gas emissions

    Author : Anneli Andersson-Chan; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Abstract : Biofiltration has shown its potential as an interesting treatment alternative for contaminated gas streams. Unlike conventional technologies, such as adsorption, scrubbers, and incineration, biofiltration offers effective pollution control at relatively low capital and operating costs, and without the generation of secondary pollution that may require subsequent treatment. 5. 25. Analytics-driven approaches supporting asset management of sanitary sewer networks

    Author : Emmanuel Okwori; Annelie Hedström; Maria Viklander; Marius Møller Rokstad; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Data-driven; Decision Support; Network Robustness; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Abstract : Sewer blockages can cause overflows and flooding, with consequences such as damage to property and environmental pollution, risks to public health and economic loss. Despite the causes being understood, blockages in sewer networks may occur unpredictably. READ MORE
