12. Sustainable and Safe Use of Non-conventional Waters -Reclaimed Water and Desalinated Water
Abstract : Fresh water scarcity, pollution and an uneven distribution have caused an increasingly serious global water crisis. One of the most widely adopted response strategies is the exploitation and use of non-conventional water sources. READ MORE

13. Land-Sea Interactions in the Coastal-Marine System of the Baltic Sea under Hydro-Climatic Variability
Abstract : This thesis investigates a few important component processes for understanding and quantifying eutrophication in the Baltic Sea, that include characterization of nutrient loadings from land, water flow in the sea under changing climate conditions and transport of solutes originating from different locations along the coast. Furthermore, this study aims to improve our understanding on how processes from land (the nutrient loading conditions) and the sea (transport dynamics and water quality) couple to determine the fate of nutrients in the sea and the water quality in a selected localized coastal area, the Himmerfjärden Bay. 15. METHODS FOR TRANSBOUNDARY WATER RESOURCES MANAGEMENT IN WATER STRESSED REGIONS – CASE STUDY: SOUTHERN AFRICA
Abstract : Water resources management in water scarce regions like the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) is challenging with both large hydro-climatic-induced scarcity and the considerable inter-annual fluctuations at the centre of the allocation problem. Water must be allocated both in time and space using acceptable criteria and most importantly, all stakeholders must adhere to the decisions imposed by water sharing agreements. READ MORE
